Phil's POV
I could hear the shuffling of feet as I slowly opened my eyes and stretched out my arms, staring up at the ceiling. There were quiet voices close by whispering to each other, and I could only just make out that it was Dan and Martyn, so I pretended to still be asleep."I saw Kian going into Thomas' house last night, which is worrying me. I was going to tell both you and Phil, but you were asleep." Martyn informed.
"Well, what do you think he was doing there?" Dan asked.
"I don't know, but he was there for a while. Kian then left and it looked like he didn't want to be caught" Martyn replied.
"That's strange...should I tell Phil? I mean, I want to, but I don't want him to be worrying about me all the time" Dan questioned.
"Tell me what?" I said, sitting up, and Dan turned around to face me. Dan and Martyn looked at each other and then back at me.
"Kian met up with Thomas last night. We don't know what it means or why it happened, but it seemed that Kian didn't want to be caught there" Martyn repeated. I then looked directly at Dan, and he looked away awkwardly.
"Why didn't you want to tell me?" I questioned. Dan fell silent, and then sighed.
"I didn't want you to be worrying about me 24/7"Dan answered.
"You're expecting me to not worry? Of course I would Dan!" I replied.
"But it may be for nothing and we could just be us reading too much into things" Dan said.
"But it's Thomas and Kian, and I'm pretty sure that they didn't just meet up to have coffee late at night" I responded, and Dan fell silent. I then climb out of bed, and Martyn left us, and I catch him smiling sympathetically at Dan as he walks out of the room.
"Look Dan, I know that it may not mean anything, and that you can take care of yourself and you don't want me to get involved, but I can't just sit back as if it doesn't matter. You're my best friend Dan, and I don't want anything or anyone to hurt you" I say to him.
"I'm your best friend?!" Dan questioned, his eyes lighting up with shock and surprise.
"Is it not obvious yet? Of course you are!" I respond, even though it was half true. We both fell silent, as we got dressed for school and did our hair and put on our shoes. Dan seemed to avoid making eye contact with me, which started to make me annoyed. Did he really think that I had a friend above him? I pushed those thoughts away as I quickly finished my breakfast and then headed upstairs to brush my teeth, almost running to Dan as he ran around the house in panic, since we only had twenty minutes to get to school. We met each other by the door and in our dorky and in-sporty fashion, ran as quickly as we could, arriving just on time for school and out of breath. We started heading for the cafeteria, but the bell for first period rang, so we just headed to homeroom.
"Why do we do this to ourselves?" Dan questioned, as he caught his breath.
"I don't know" I whined. We arrived at our homeroom and quickly made our way to the back and sat down just as our homeroom teacher entered the classroom.
"You're late" Connor announced, giving us a fake, stern look, which makes me role my eyes. We immediately fell into conversation with them, and eventually they looked at Dan, their expressions now serious.
"We heard about what happened yesterday, are you okay?" Troye asked.
"Yeah I'm okay. He tried to hurt Phil too, but nothing serious happened" Dan replied.
"Are you serious? Dan, he had his hands around your throat?!" I shrieked, I was really starting to get annoyed at how much Dan thought about himself. I suddenly realised that other students were listening, and lowered my tone.
