*First person pov*
People continued to cheer, giving Saitama words of approval. It would have been all okay, until that one fucking piece of shit spoke up. "Ya know, maybe that monster wasn't all that tough?" Some ugly idiot in a green flannel said. I finally found the strength to sit up, and stared at the crowd. "Yeah, but so many heroes went down." A guy retorted. That idiot put his hands up like it was no big deal. "That just means those heroes were weaklings."
"Maybe... I suppose the monster didn't look all that tough when he killed it." I started to glare at the asshole who started all of this. Who are you to fucking entitle yourself to judge us, you prick!? "After all, a C-Class Hero took it down with only one punch. What's that saying about the heroes that got beat by it? They may call themselves A-Class or S-Class, but their titles don't mean a thing." The prick started to laugh.
I was boiling. Furious. How can you say that, after they risked your life for you. I opened my mouth to scream at the asshole, but it only came out as a rasp. My... voice!! I can't say anything until I healed myself... if I even can, that is. "Hey, that's enough. They risked their lives for us." Another man stepped up to the plate to stop this dickhead. "Risked their lives? Anyone can do that. But a 'Hero' has to beat the monster."
"Well, it all ended well this time so whatever. But it's annoying when heroes who are actually just average Joes show up and try to save you." That punk said in a mocking tone. "If you're actually going to call a hero, then-" Another man grabbed the dickwad by the shirt. "SHUT YOUR FAT MOUTH!!" The asshole started to sweat. "Why are you getting mad at me for? The Heroes Association gets their funds from our donations, right? As long as we're paying for it, they'd better protect us."
"The fact of the matter is that bald guy took care of the matter all by himself. So all the other heroes died for nothing. Anyone can come up a way to buy some time. In the end, the other 'heroes' didn't do anything heroic." I pursed my lips, clenching my eyes closed. You're wrong... you're all wrong!! Saitama is better than any S-Class hero!! "I said shut up!! We were all saved. Let's just leave it at that."
I can't believe everyone's buying this prick's words. "Aha... ahahaha..." Someone started to laugh. I turned my head to see Saitama laughing. Why was he laughing? "Sai...tama?" He started to laugh loud, obnoxiously loud. Loud enough for everyone in the evacuation center had heard. "Today's my lucky day!! The other heroes wore the monster down, so beating it was like child's play!!"
My eyes widened, as my heart dropped to my stomach. I started to shake, tears in my eyes. I already know what Saitama's doing, and it's just too selfless!! "Good thing I was late!! I barely did a thing and now I get all the credit." Tears streamed down my face like waterfalls, as I tried to contain my sobs.
How could you make yourself look like the villain to help us look like true heroes and get the appreciation that we deserve? Is this really okay...? Saitama, please.... Saitama then turned to the people. "OH, HEY!! SPREAD THE WORD, ALL OF YOU!! I'M THE ONE WHO FINISHED THE MONSTER OFF!! I'LL BEAT THE SNOT OUT OF ANYONE WHO SAYS IT'S ONLY 'CAUSE I CAME LATE!!"
It was hard for me to hear Saitama destroy himself. The crowd started to whisper to each other. "Eh? What does he mean?" "The monster was already weak?" "Huh? Hang on a second, that's Saitama!! He's the hero fro Z-City that everyone calls a cheat! He appeared out of nowhere and climbed the ranks super fast." People discussed to themselves.
"HEY, YOU BETTER LOOK AFTER THOSE FALLEN HEROES, OKAY!? IF THEY DIED ON ME, HOW AM I GONNA CRASH IN ON THEIR WORK!?!" Saitama said, with the smuggest look I ever seen on him. That just angered the people further. "He is a cheat!!" "Man, that is no fair." "So he's just taking all the credit?"
"Compared to him, the other heroes look more heroic than he'll ever be." "Where would we be now... if the other heroes haven't fought?" "Yeah, I feel so grateful to them all..." I looked up at Saitama, my face covered in dirt, blood, snot and tears. Even if they don't see you as a hero, I will! Even if you get ridiculed, and I will get made fun of because I follow you, I will never give in!!
Even if the road that you take if full of glass shards and nails, I will bear through it for you!! That's why... "Hey it stopped raining." Saitama said out loud. Despite of my broken bones, I forced myself to stand up. "Saitama!" Saitama turned around, then he paled. "Oi, you shouldn't be standing. Actually, how are you standing in the first place?" Saitama asked as he approached me.
When he got close enough, I threw myself into Saitama, wrapping him my arms around as tight as I can. Tears streamed down my face as I buried my head into the bald man's shoulder. "Even if everyone curses at you, spit at you, tear you down, I will still be here!!! Even if no one sees you as a hero, you will always be my hero and nothing will ever change that!! I will follow you through and through, you fucking asshole!!" I screamed into Saitama's shoulder.
My legs finally gave out, leaning on Saitama for support as I cried into his shoulder. "So... please... let's go home...."
