Sidekick [One Punch Man Fanfic]

Chapter 12

*First person pov*

Genos punched the King in the face, creating a massive explosion that blew a huge hole out of the Evacuation Center and the buildings in front. My eyes widened in shock as the fire died down, and at Genos' feet lay a couple of burnt teeth of the sea creature that could've wiped us all. Is it.... really dead? "Was that the last of them?" Genos asked, turning to the frightened crowd. After, everyone started to cheer out in relief and happiness that a savior had come. Well, we're not out of the woods yet. There are people here, er, heroes, that are injured and need medical attention immediately.

But even after Genos had exploded the monster to bits, I couldn't shake the sinking feeling in my stomach. Something isn't right... nothing right at all. Then, there was a shadow standing over Genos, something tall. I knew where this was going. I choked out in surprise and fear, as the Deep Sea King wrapped its scaly hands around Genos' right arm. Genos' arm got ripped right out of mechanical cords when King smashed giant fist into Genos' face, sending Genos flying. Genos hit the wall, a crater collapsing beneath Genos.

I felt myself scream in horror. "GENOS!!" The Deep Sea King tossed Genos' sparking arm off to the side. "Now I'm angry." The Deep Sea King was smaller than before. His right cheek where Genos had punched him was torn apart, leaking oily blue blood. "I will tear you to shreds." I felt myself tremble. No way... Genos... The Deep Sea King returned the favor, as Genos' right side of the face was completely ripped off. The socket where Genos' arm used to be sparkled and hissed, as Genos weakly lifted up his head. But alive.

"I let my guard down again. I never learn." Genos spoke as if he was fine. Then, can Genos still fight? How? I clenched my fists. Where is Saitama!? Genos was with him just a while ago! Genos sat up and stood up carefully. "Those who can walk, leave the shelter immediately!! I cannot promise I can win! Run, while I keep him busy!!" Genos yelled out to all who could hear him. One by one, civilians started to run until it turned into a full on stampede of frightened hoomans. I got onto my hands and knees, crawling.

I have to help somehow...! I can't sit here like a useless trash! Genos isn't human, so my spells won't work. What can I do!? The Deep Sea King's face contorted, as his cheek healed. "I WILL NOT LET YOU GET AWAY!!! ALL OF YOU ARE MY PREEEEEEEEY!!! ALL OF YOOOOOOOOOU!!" The villain yelled, charging at the crowd of people ran away. Genos arms glowed bright orange, as he launched himself at the Deep Sea King. Genos kicked the King in the face but at the same time so did the King with a punch.

They began two exchange and receive hits so fast that the after images made it look like they had eight arms like an octopus. Well, four for Genos because... well... he's a little handicapped. *Cough* moving on... King finally received a hit, which gave Genos the upper hand. With that couple of seconds Genos gained, Genos punched Deep Sea King upward through the ceiling. Genos' used his left arm to blast fire upwards through the hole, probably roasting King. While roasting, Genos turned his head to me.

"Ren, take this time to hurry and run!!" An anger vein popped on my head. "DOES IT LOOK LIKE I CAN, IDIOT!?" By the time I yelled that, Genos jumped through the hole after King, making me stare up through the ceiling. I couldn't see much through the hole. After the fire went away, there was a huge yellow flash. Then after a minute, the ceiling caved in above me, then they both fell through the ceiling, with Genos on top giving the Deep Sea King all the hits. Genos is overpowering him! "You like Combo moves, don't you?"

The Deep Sea King landed on the ground, creating a crater. Rubble flew around as blanket of dust covered the two warriors. A shockwave of wind destroyed the dust, and you could see what was happened. The King had punched Genos while Genos was blocking the heavy punch. They stood there, trying to overpower the other. The civilians in the area started to flee away, and honestly, my instincts is telling me to do that right now. BUT MY MENTAL POWER IS 2STRONG4U!!

"You... YOU CAN DO IT, ONII-CHAN!!" A little girl with a pink bunny shouted, with tears in her eyes as she and her father fled. "SHUT UP!!" The Deep Sea King yelled, as his cheeks expanded outward. He spat out whatever it was in his mouth, which was a thick, yellow liquid out at the girl. I gasped, as I had an idea on what it was. After all, what is a liquid and threatening to a life? Acid. "Brats should just keep quiet and melt away!!" I lifted up my hand and narrowed my eyes at the girl.

Barrier!! Come on!! My hand glowed yellow as a dome protected the girl and her father from danger. The liquid slid down like lava, not breaking my barrier. The father and daughter made eye contact with me, before running away. I watched at the Deep Sea King's head turned to me. He glared down at me with disgust. "Well aren't you cool. You should've just withered away a long time ago." Its cheeks expanded out again, as he spat out the yellow liquid at me. "Now you get the same treatment."

I gasped as I put my hand out again. My hand glowed yellow, but the barrier was wispy and flickering before it disappeared. No way... I watched as the yellow drop came closer and closer. I'm going to die...? But in a quick moment, a shadow appeared in front of me before it became solid. The liquid hit, and I heard a gasp from the wall. My pupils widened when I realized it was not a wall, but a person. "Genos...?" He didn't respond at all, just staring down at me with wide eyes as the acid ate him alive.

The metal started to corrode, as the acid seeped into his clothes to burn out the threads. Next, was his own body. I could see what was still human, like his ribs, muscle, all of it. He was burning away right in front of my eyes, and I couldn't do anything to stop it. There was only one question in mind. "Why...? How could you save me...!? I've been so fucking rude to you, what gave you permission to save me!? You could've saved hundreds of lives if you ignored me...! Why!?" I chocked out, staring at Genos. I only received silence.

Then he who was responsible started to laugh, laugh at our misery and possibly my friend's demise. I watched as the Deep Sea King grab Genos by his head, lifting him up like nothing. I clenched my teeth as tears streamed down my face. "DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH HIMMMMMM!!" I screamed at the monster, making my lungs burn. He just licked his lips. "That was a nice scream. I want to hear more." He then bent over, reaching out to me. I gasped as I tried to get away from him, but his hand wrapped all the way around my throat.

He picked me up, making me choke. I can't fucking breathe!! I clawed at his hand with my bruised and scratched arms. He then pulled us over his shoulder and threw us against the wall. I puked blood when my back hits, my eyelids falling forward. King charged forward laughing before kicking us straight through the wall. The momentum pushed me against the rubble and when I hit the ground from at least the second or third floor it flung me across the ground. My skin got ripped apart, as a scream got caught in my throat, as I gasped for air.

"You know, if you focused on me," The deep sea king jumped and landed in front of Genos. "You could have easily dodged that ball of acid. Instead, you sacrificed yourself to save that useless woman." I clenched my teeth as tears streamed down my face, as I knew it was true. "You're a fool, but I give you credit for giving me a few scratches. Of course, they've already healed though." The Deep Sea King said, tapping his right cheek where he got punched in the beginning.

"Now, since you put effort to saving this woman, how about I kill her right before your eyes before I kill you. That way, it would be peaceful knowing how she died.... even though it would be from tearing her to shreds." The King walked over to me, rain falling around us. I'm glad that there's rain, because he doesn't know I'm crying. This is so frustrating....! Where could you be, you egghead!?! I closed my eyes, because I couldn't bear watch Deep Sea King kill me.

Why couldn't this fall knock me out, I don't want to feel more pain. I breathed in sharply when I felt pressure on my stomach, covering my whole body. It felt like a foot, since it felt so calloused and the shape. The pressure increased little by little, but before it could even become unbearable, I heard a voice. "Justice Crash!!" A bike flew out of nowhere and hit the Deep Sea King. And the offender, was a hero of mine, and the one who got me into the Sidekick business in the first place.
