Almost a week had passed since that very first day. And not much had changed.
Luke was right, he did like it at Norwest. He hung out with his new found friends daily. At first he was worried he was a burden on them. But no, he was being irrational. They welcomed the blonde with open arms, pleased to greet him into the group.
Everyone in it seemed so interesting, Alex with his sportiness, Calum and Michael with their relationship and excellent music skills, Charlotte's mind a which was keen for debates, (they had, had a few already), and everything about Carla, she was so smart, so contrary.
Not that Luke's old friends weren't interesting. He had skyped two of them, Shaun and Gwen the night before. It made the blue eyed boy remember how much he missed them.
He pouted mournfully as he got off the now familiar school bus. He was seeing them nearer to Christmas, but it wasn't soon enough. The friends he had made in Sydney were great, but there was no way in hell he would forget the people who made him happy in Darwin.
He chuckled internally as he remembered a song he used to have to sing in primary school assemblies, 'Silver and Gold'.
It was one of those cheesy, happy clappy kids songs, with a moral behind it. Luke couldn't really remember how it went, but he knew it was something to do with friendship.
And the chorus was 'silver and gold, my new friends and old'. It just popped in his head, to be fair it kind of fit the situation. He didn't want to forget his old friends, but he wanted to treasure his new ones.
He cringed a little, it was a really cheesy thing. But to be fair it was what he wanted to do.
The blonde yawned a little as he strolled from his second period, history, where Michael had to ditch him as he needed to talk to their teacher about something or other, to the canteen, he didn't sleep much the previous night. Nothing to do with nerves or anything, but Netflix and browsing tumblr desperately called out his name. And hey, he wasn't going to say no to that.
It was probably a bad I sea though, as he had a calculus test for his first lesson, and, even though he would have flopped it with out the lack of sleep, there was no way he would get higher than a 20%.
Luke was terrible at maths. In his younger years he had to have a tutor, he was that bad. It was okay though. He knew he had other strengths, drama being one obvious one. So being bad at something was okay. True, he has improved, he still wasn't the best, but at least now he knew Pythagoras' theorem was, a(squared) + b(squared) = c(squared).
Once he finally reached the canteen, (it took him a little longer than normal, due to him turning the wrong way), he looked around hopefully for his friends. It was a crowded place, and he always forgot which corner of the room their usual table was. After another moment of scanning the area, Luke spotted Calum's head, sat at the table in the left hand corner, right next to the long window. He was getting something out of his bag, probably a drink, and as Luke drew closer he saw he was correct, and Calum brought out a bottle of Cherry Coke, and took a sip.
The blonde slung his bag off his shoulder and sat down opposite him, letting out a small oomph as he sat.
Calum looked up from his phone, and nodded his head towards the blonde "Yo."
Luke chuckled in response "Yo."
He looked around realising s
nobody else was there yet."Hey, where is everyone?" Luke asked, looking around slightly.
"Right here hoes." Michael said before Calum could answer, taking his usual seat at his dark haired boy friends side, linking their fingers.
It was a matter of minutes before the others joined, filling the table with the normal back and forth banter they had. It was oddly funny though, each member of the table had assigned themselves a seat. It wasn't planned, and when Luke asked why Carla just said, it just kinda happened.
