The way they look in this story, i just find pictures that kinda fit, there isn't really a fixed time period? Idk.
"But no Julian, that makes no sense." Ashton read off the script in front of him, trying, yet failing not to sound monotonous.
Luke threw his hands in the air, still sitting on his chair, his script also in hand "Well why not? It's the twentieth century, why couldn't it be possible?"
"It's utterly impossible."
The pair had been rehearsing during the whole of their hour free period, and Ashton couldn't be more self conscious. He felt as if he was just reading words off a page, while Luke was putting in full facial expressions, emotion in his voice, and even hand gestures. Ashton just felt awkward, he didn't know what to do with his face, in case he got it wrong.
He still didn't know if he regretted this or not. In their school, they could pick three or four majors, but still had to do core science, maths, religious studies and english. Ashton was starting to think he should have just kept his original three. Maths, music and history. Drama was a mistake, he was going to let everybody down. He was lucky he liked Luke so much.
"Sneaking in isn't impossible Jules." Luke snorted, "We could go in through the back entrance, through the bushes. The park is perfect, there will be lampposts, so it won't be dark, plus," Luke felt himself going a little red "Then we can make-out and not get caught."
Ashton flushed bright red, forcing himself not to think of him and Luke kissing, it was something he could imagine all day, which scared him.
He had been thinking about it a lot, just during this free period, the two were sitting at a table in the sixth formers common room, neither had been noticing the glances they gave each other.
He took in a deep breath, and tried to put in more emotion into it, "We can try b-"
Ashton signed heavily and put his script on the table next to him, looking at the blue eyed boy in front of him, who had his head cocked to one side in slight confusion.
"I can't do it Luke," Ashton exclaimed, "I just sound like a robot and I can't figure out what to do with my hands. I feel ridiculous. Especially because you're doing so damn well." he put his head in his hands, "I'm just going to embarrass myself I can't do this! We've been practising this scene for like forty five minutes, and I still have as much vocal expression as a wooden spoon."
Luke chuckled lightly, and moved over to the seat next to him instead of opposite him, placing a hand on his shoulder, rubbing it gentley.
"Ash, this stuff takes patience, I've been doing drama stuffs for about ten years."
Ashton looked up and shook his head, "I always feel like an idiot when I do it."
"You will get it, you just have to realise nobody cares or thinks your being embarassing except you."
Ashton nodded, "Okay."
The bell rang alerting both it was time for lunch, Luke grinned at the curly haired boy, and picked up his blue backpack, "You coming to break?"
Ashton shook his head, "I need to get some practice maths work, I'll see you in music?"
Luke nodded and smiled at him once more as he turned and left the room, hoping to find his friends in the canteen.
He peered over the heads of all the younger year groups, some of the year sevens only just reached his elbow, most sixth formers spent break time and their free periods outside of school, but it was a tradition to his friends to chill at the same lunch table, always. Michael told him a few days ago that they used to always chill in the library, until year nine, then more people joined the friendship group, and they would become too loud, and there wasn't enough chairs, meaning many had to either sit on each others laps or on the floor. Unsurprisingly, they got kicked out of the library on more than one occasion, which resulted in them calling a lonng lasting dibs, on a long table in the corner of the canteen.
