17. Promise Me.

~Y/n's POV~

It's been a few days since you've spoken with Garroth, but he's put you at peace. You've slept and have been up and around more often since the day you spoke with him, but you still had Laurence on your mind. You couldn't help but feel haunted by the memory of him and his death. You wanted to feel free of the guilt that lay like a ball of ice in your stomach.

It was until that night that you felt the presence of Laurence. You felt safe as you curled up in your bed, the soft sounds of crickets and other animals outside helping you drift off to sleep. You opened your eyes to reveal a warm, green forest. You stood in a clearing with a giant tree in the middle, making the long grass around you dappled with sunlight. You look around and then you spot him at the roots of the tree. You begin to sprint towards the base and you hug him tightly, and he hugs you back.

You started to cry as he whispers in your ear softly. "Shh.... It's going to be okay." He says. You stop crying and you break away from the hug. You look up into his sky blue eyes. He smiles at you. "So much to say, but such little time..." He says. You nod. He sits down and you sit next to him. He looks at you in question, and you see what he means. You smile and nod. He begins to sing softly.

We'll live a life, just you and I.
Now settle down, have a slice of pie.
I'll stay here by your side.
I only wish to see you smile,
You're such an interesting child.
Now there's no need to fight.

Just promise me that you'll never leave.

As he finished singing, you were half asleep at his side. You looked up at him sleepily and he smiled. "Don't think of me and miss me, think of me and remember my smile. Remember my voice. Be happy when you think of me, because I want you to be happy. Alright..?" He tells you quietly. You nod slowly. He leans closer and kisses you softly. "When you think of me, remember that I love you." He whispers, and the dream fades away.
