Will Junior and Bobbi were their names! And here is Chapter Nine for you, as promised😄

Family Room Sofa

I think I'm never gonna learn to stay away from the kitchen table on days like this. The second I sat down to eat my pancakes and chicken, Missy started her fantasizing over my savvy. She's more excited for my birthday than I am.

"Oh, Fish! Today's the day!" she squealed as she burst into the dining room and took her place in front of me. "You get your savvy today!"

"Yeah, whatever." I didn't want to start anything with her. Today of all days I wished that she'd just leave me alone.

"Fish, how couldn't you be more excited about this?" she asked behind a big chunk of pancake. She swallowed. "You really become a part of the savvy family today. And Fisher Beaumont,--"

"Missy," I tried to stop her. I knew where this was going.

"--don't tell me you haven't AT LEAST thought about what your savvy is..."

"Missy." Through clenched teeth that time.

"But don't you worry, I've got that sorted right for you..."

I said her name again. I had my fork in a death grip and I could feel my heart beating faster.

"See, I made a list--"

And I dropped my fork so it clattered on the plate. I don't know what I would've said if Poppa hadn't walked in that second.

"Now Mississippi, it's his birthday. Don't bother him too bad."

That was the first time I smiled today; when Poppa came in.

"G'mornin'," Missy and I chorused. He said good morning back.

"You've got the day off today, right, Poppa?" I wanted to know.

"Of course. I wouldn't wanna miss my son's very own savvy birthday," he answered, digging into his own breakfast.

I smiled and went back to eating.

"And Poppa," Missy piped up, "you'll have the day off on my savvy birthday, too?"

"Of course, hon." And he tapped her on the nose. "Wouldn't miss it for the world."

Missy giggled and sat back in her chair. She'd miraculously finished her food between all her talking and went off to put her plate in the kitchen. To do that, she had to walk behind me, so of course she took the opportunity to be her up-to-no-good self.

She yanked my left arm off to the side. It reminded me so much of Mellie's episode that I may have freaked out more than necessary.

"God, Missy! Can't you just leave me alone?!"

I don't know exactly what I said. I figure I counted out every last slightly annoying thing she'd ever done to me. I don't remember. I do remember Missy looked mighty sad. She didn't even say anything. Just walked away.

I need to go and apologize. Right now.
