Chapter 5: Justice has been Silenced:
"I hate Vilfor" Billy said to Rebecca. "The town that I thought was beautiful and thriving is nothing more than a dark citadel that's hanging by the strings and Orvil is the puppet master. We're his puppets. We and this stupid city are nothing more than his feeding trough. That pig." Rebecca started to cry, she looked depressed and Billy went over to her and cuddled with her to comfort her to make her feel like everything was going to be all right. Hope was spiraling and disappearing like water down a drain. All seemed lost.
The prison cell was not like your average prison cell. It was dark and damp with mold in the corners. The bars were as big as support beams; each one close together Thick steel bars that would require God himself to break them. There were two beds which were nothing more than two cement slabs attached to the wall and a metal toilet in the corner with the words "No hope left" carved on the back of it. "Don't worry Rebecca, I'll find a way out, somehow. " Billy said. "They both sat down together and began praying. There was a lost of words, both of the two didn't know what to say, things were looking pretty grim. "...Lord, our lives are in your hands, please give us hope, and please guide us. Amen "Billy and Rebecca ended their prayer and held each other and just sat there, looking at each other, then out the cell, and eventually, they went to sleep.
The next morning came faster than expected. "Slept like a rock "Said Rebecca. "Well, technically we DID sleep on rocks "Said Billy trying to lighten up the situation. They got up and looked out the cell then a guard approached them. "You two, I've come to take you to your fair trial "Said the Guard with an evil look on his face. Fair? More like "Rigged". Billy and Rebecca were cuffed and escorted to the courthouse; passing cell after cell filled with citizens, even children suffered the same fate. It seemed every cell they passed that was filled with inmates had the same stench, death. Their hopeless faces, some even just sat there waiting for death to sing their name. Waiting for God to call them home. Some didn't eat; some even tried drowning themselves in the toilet as if they were impatient to starve to death. The guards didn't do anything. "Let them die, more space for newcomers" Said the guard.
The courthouse itself didn't even look like a courthouse. It looked like the typical stereotypical villain's lair. It came equipped with torture equipment, black walls and floors, and lava pits everywhere; two on the side and one behind the judge's desk. As Billy and Rebecca were entering the courtroom there were five guys standing in the back of the courthouse, they all wore trench coats and masks which had red eyes and jagged edges. They looked at Billy and Billy himself couldn't help but think something was going to happen. These guys are going to do something, but what, when, and why? "The High Court of Vilfor is now in session." Said the Bailiff "Presenting your supreme leader your master, your ruler, Oliver Orvil." Oliver stared at Billy then at Rebecca. Billy eyes filled with fiery rage, Billy just wanted to kill that man in the most painful way possible, there was only one thing going through his mind at that very moment, rage. "So, I get to handle your case Billy. I'll give you one last chance, serve, or die." Oliver said with authority. "I'd rather die kicking your butt then watching countless people die" Said Billy. "Oh, is that what you think? Well then, I guess you know what that means..." Just then, time froze and the people became inanimate, Oliver himself was frozen as well. Billy wasn't alone, Rebecca wasn't frozen, and she had a concerned and puzzled look on her face." Billy, what is this? I'm scared." Billy knew what this meant, just they both heard someone laugh, an eerie laugh, a strange sounding laugh, it sounded like a rat getting stepped on. What followed were a cough, a hack, and a wheeze. "Sorry, I'm not good with dramatic entrances" Said a familiar voice. Suddenly a man appeared before Rebecca and Billy; he had a black suit with a golden tie, and what appeared to be a crimson cape around his neck. Why it was non other than Crimson. "Crimson!" Billy said. "Where have you been? You have an idea what we've been through" Crimson smirked and said "Told you." He then followed with the following statement. "You're In good hands Billy, I'll be watching you. You'll thank me later. Don't loose it." Crimson gave Billy a gun and vanished. "A gun, fully loaded, but why did he give me this?" Billy said. "Where did he go? What was he, Billy?" Said Rebecca. Billy gave a shrug and time resumed.
"Well then, I guess you know what that means..." Oliver repeated "Death, followed by more death. You'll be killed, violently, slowly, painfully." He proceeded to light another cigar when Billy shouted "hmm, the only one who's going to die is you, hell is a fitting place for tyrants like you." Billy pulled out the gun Crimson gave him, it was fully loaded. He did a quick draw and shot Oliver right in the face; Oliver screamed a pain startling shriek and fell backwards into a pool of lava shouting in agonizing pain. Just then the group of people in the back with the trench coats sprinted forward and threw flash grenades, grabbed Rebecca and Billy, and ran out of the courtroom during the chaos. They ran through Orvil's fortress, through Vilfor, and to the countryside making sure no one was following. They all came to a small cottage under a cliff. The weird guys in the trench coats led the two inside and to a secret room under the floor. The room went on and on, nothing but soulless concrete, eventually they approached what looked like an elevator and without questions they all entered.
The room that followed left Billy and Rebecca surprised. It was filled with people; not robots, not people in rags but real, everyday, men and women that you would see on a daily basis. Some did have protective gear on but beside the point, they were real, breathing, living beings. "You're safe now" said one guy in a trench coat. He continued "You were lucky, most never make it out of the prison alive... Actually, no one makes it out alive, congrats, you're the first." "Where are we?" Said Billy. "Orvil doesn't know about this place." Said the man. "We're taking you to our leader; he'll answer any questions you have." So without any more questions the two were escorted into a room with a desk and monitors behind the desk. There was a couch, a T.V, a game console, a computer, and a bookcase that was filled shelf to shelf with books. There was one on the desk and upon closer examination it was a bible. "Wait here you two" Said the man and without another word he left. A minute passed, two minutes passed, eventually the two sat on the couch and waited some more. Finally after waiting a man walked into the room. He looked like he was in his late thirties, had jeans and tennis shoes on. He wore a coat with a wrinkled shirt and his hair was kind of messy. He also had a five o'clock shadow.
"So you two are the new survivors" The man said. He had an English accent. "I gotta hand it to you kids; Orvil's citadel is on high alert. I never seen the place so lit up." Billy was about to respond when the man interrupted him. "My apologies were my manners. I am Jason Gray; leader of this congregation." Jason had a pleased look on his face. "Billy and Rebecca, we've heard of you. You killed Oliver and sent him packing. I'm proud of you. That gun you hold Billy, marks his insignia." "This gun?" Billy asked "The weird man named Crimson gave it to him." Rebecca added "We were on death row, we were about to be killed when he just showed up at random and gave Billy the gun." "Ah yes, Crimson's gun" Said Jason "Crimson told us of you two, he ordered us to recue you and help you end Oliver and his wicked ways. What a surprise that you already did the job before we could come and getcha. "Jason laughed a big hefty man laugh, Gave Billy and Rebecca a pat on the shoulder and lit a cigar. "Crimson helped us survive. He told stories of how he went from world to world, galaxy to galaxy, helping those in need, stopping wars, raising leaders. His methods were cryptic and brought upon many questions but they helped out in the end, and when they work, he leaves to help another race in need." "But who are you guys?" Demanded Billy "One second I was home and now I'm in this dying island, slowly we're all dying and soon there will be nothing left. Oliver is dead but his remaining forces will take control and finish what he started." Rebecca gave a concerned look; she noticed that Billy had a tear run down his face. "We're going to fight till the end Billy" Rebecca said "Don't ever forget, no matter what, I'll always be with you, no matter what"; She kissed him. "The light of God will keep us safe" said Jason. "I control "The Regainers". This is the resistance, the push that'll kill Orvil's ruling forever, no matter what the cost is. We won't stop till every trace of his ruling is wiped clean. The land belongs to the people not to a tyrant."
A few hours later Jason issued a meeting to take place. "Regainers rejoice!" Jason announced "I bring tidings of great joy. This man is Billy Frasier. He has been given Crimson's gun, like the one he told me about! Show them!" Billy held out the gun and everyone stared in aw. The golden coating, the silver handle, the jet black insignia on it, it was pretty fancy. ("I told you guys I wasn't crazy") Jason said under his breath to himself. ("There is hope for us, we can finally end this and be free once more"). Jason ended with a smile on his face, the small glimmer of hope in his eyes grew and it seemed as if it wouldn't stop.
