Chapter 9: When you wish upon a Star...:
Billy awoke the next day startled. He jumped from the nightmare he had." It's ok, that madman is gonna get what's coming to him." Said Rebecca "I know, I couldn't help but hear his laugh, menacing evil laugh." Billy said. "Whatever it was it's gone now". Hours later Jason went to the main hall of the base. "Regainers assemble!" Jason shouted in his microphone. "The time to act is near. Let there be no slacking off from this point on. I know it's hard but we might be able to pull this off. Otherwise.......Otherwise we could all just live like mole people for the rest of our lives. Kind of anti-climactic if you ask me." The crowd of Regainers laughed. "Jason, how exactly are we gonna pull this off?" Said Rebecca. "Well, I need to talk to you two about that." Said Jason. Jason led the two to his office. The three debated how they would start this assault until Billy came up with a good idea, "I think we need to send in spies on first, you guys had no trouble breaking us out of court so I'm sure we'll have no problem pulling it off now." Jason gave pat to Billy's back." I like it! The spies can jam the security cameras and take out any other sensors. When their done we'll strike." The three agreed. "This is it, the attack of all attacks, fasten your seat belts kids, we're taking down a capital!" Jason said with loud and energetic tone.
Weeks passed, everyone was working so hard; one night remained. The final night was passing and still Billy couldn't sleep. He kept thinking of his parents, then Rebecca, and then himself. He was puzzled by what happened, why him? Why now? Why could he just live his life like a normal person? Just then Rebecca approached him. "What wrong?" Rebecca said. "Someone stressed about the battle tomorrow?" Billy just grabbed Rebecca's hand and told her to come with him. The two left the base and found themselves outside. The stars shined bright in the night sky, each one shined so bright as if each star was an angel glistening through the night. Billy led Rebecca to a meadow and to a lone hill where at the top of a hill was a giant Tree. The tree itself was the only one in the meadow and it stood out. Billy and Rebecca laid there and watched the stars, seeing a shooting star here and there. Billy looked to Rebecca and she looked back, both were staring in each others eyes. The moon shined off of their eyes giving of a radiant light. They smiled; it was as if they could feel the spark of their love thriving through their veins. "I'm conflicted." Billy said as he looked at the capital in the distance. "I'm worried that this won't work, I'm worried that I'll suffer the same fate as Oliver." "What do you mean?" Said Rebecca. Billy took her hands. "I'm worried that I'll let the power get to my head. Just like Crimson said. His gun basically means that I'm the strongest man here. What if I get corrupted by power? I don't want to loose you Rebecca." Billy said. Rebecca sighed "That's never gonna happen, not in a million years. If it does, I'll set you straight. No Boyfriend of mine is getting corrupted unless I say so." Billy smiled "You're just really awesome y'know that? Whenever I'm with you I get all warm and happy inside. Don't know what it is, but I like it." She giggled and wrapped her arms around him. "The stars are gorgeous, to think that each one has its own world." Rebecca said. "It'll be great seeing that one day. If I do, I wanna have you right by my side, so you can protect me if something goes wrong. You are my knight in shining armor after all." A shooting star pasted over the hill and it left a beautiful stream of light. "I wish that would be a reality, I wish that we could be together forever." Billy said "Lucky for me, one of those wishes has already been granted." The two laughed the night away on the hill. It was as if the battle was already won and they were celebrating. If was like they were having their own celebration and left everyone else to themselves. "Wait here." Said Billy. Moments later he returned with two large blankets and two pillows. "Let's sleep out here for tonight, right under the stars." Billy said with a smile. The two sat down beside each other. Every minute was filled with laughter from each of them. Sharing funny stories from the past as well as making up new ones. "I never want this night to end." Said Rebecca "I never had such an amazing time, best of all I'm spending it with you." The two laid down on the ground and stared at the night sky, all the stars twinkling and coming together. They were forming together and upon closer examination they looked like they were forming the shape of what appeared to be two people holding hands. Billy held Rebecca's hand they both smiled and eventually went to sleep to the sounds of crickets and the calm soothing breeze of the wind. The sun creeped into view slowly and before they knew it, morning awoke and showed its bright warm smile. Billy and Rebecca awoke and they made their way back to the cottage unaware they were being monitored.
"Those poor pathetic fools, love is nothing more than a foolish emotion, it tricks us all, and it leads us into despair." Oliver Orvil said "Yes, but it's the love that keeps them strong. It keeps them determination. I may not know what they're up to exactly but I know that they're going to attack me." Oliver made a mechanical laugh as he went to the window and looked into the industrial metropolis of Vilfor's capital. "The spy bug I sent out found the two and now I'll know exactly where they are." He banged his hand on the glass. "I should have known, the countryside is the most unguarded part." He said. "The girl is his light. She is what's keeping him a float." Said the shadowy figure. "Slay her and you can stop the hero." Orvil looked at the figure "Why are you helping me? I demand answers. All you've given me is total power yet you could've easily conquered this world without me." The figure laughed "I need you to take control of this pitiful world. You're the perfect candidate. It's about time these pitiful mortals know whose in charge. The other nations have surrendered and all that remains is that stupid boy and his resisting friends." Oliver went over and sat on his throne. "The Regainers are attacking soon, I'll have the upper hand here, that's when I'll take Billy and his little girlfriend and tear out their still-beating hearts." Oliver turned on his loud speakers "Attention, the citadel is now on lockdown, don't let anyone in or out. Assemble and prepare for battle at once, we're about to have some fun." Oliver made an eerie mechanical laugh, the shadowy figure made a familiar eerie laugh as well. Suddenly the monitor showing the spy bug went to fuzz. "A malfunction, damn piece of junk." Oliver said with a stern face.
Turns out Billy and Rebecca went swimming and got the Spy bug wet which caused it to malfunction and within seconds it died. "The waters so clear here." Rebecca said. "Just as clear as your crystal blue eyes m'lady." Billy said with a sly grin. "You're so cheesy sweetie." Rebecca said "I love it, don't ever stop." The two laughed and eventually made their way to Jason's office and prepared for the fight.
"Alright, you guys ready? The spies have been dispatched and we're heading to the checkpoint." Jason got into his mech. suit. Billy and Rebecca suited up and all three of them as well as the massive army of Regainers stood outside in the capital's outskirts. There was no turning back now. It was all or nothing, the veil of determination and rage covered Billy as the fire in his eyes grew from a spark into a flame, a big roaring flame.
