Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu Wamaghfiratuhu.

Today, I'm here to enlighten you people about the blooming trend of wishing each other by saying ‘‘Ramdan Kareem.’’ is utterly wrong.

Kareem- The word means generous. And none other then Allah is generous upon his believers. Thus, the name Allah, Al- Kareem.

You yourself ponder upon the fact, that how can Ramadan be generous to us? It's only Allah, who is generous. Isn't he? Hence, Saying ramadan kareem is baseless and there was found, no origin of this description. As for Ramadan mubarak, Ramadan Shareef, had been narrated in many descriptions.

The authentic proof for my Opposition for greeting people by saying Ramadan Kareem is:
Ibn Uthaymeen RadiyAllahu Anhu narrated:

The ruling concern this is, This phrase 'Ramadan kareem' is not correct, and the only phrase that should be said is Ramadan Mabrook, or anything related to this. Because Ramadan is not the one that can give you something so, that it can be called generous (kareem), rather it is only Allah, The exalted that put virtue and this a virtuous month. And made the time period for performing, (the fasting) a pillar of Islam.

(Reference: Majmoo Fatawa 20/93-94).

As many people were using the term ramadan kareem so, I thought of acknowledging you people about this.

Do pray for the whole Ummah, the martyrs of Gaza, Syria and Palestine especially.

At the end, May Allah accept our fasts and deeds from this month and bless us immensely. Ameen

P.S: Make dua for me as well Damsel_Shaafi
