I hung up running next door to get Lisa asking her could she watch the girls for me really quick. Every worst solution was running through my mind when London called me.
I hopped in the car swearving through lanes and cutting people off. Angry drivers yelled curse words out their windows while I left dust behind me trying to get to London. Turning onto her street I saw her walking down the long street with a heavy looking bag in her hand with a distressed look on her face. I pulled up along side her.
"Ma!" I called out to her
She looked up giving me a tiny smile
"Bout time brown" she said opening the door getting in
"I took long?" I asked
"No. I was just kidding to you know...lighten the mood." She said putting on her seat belt
I nodded my head starting the car back up. The car ride to my house was silent. I could understand why though.
"We here." I said once I pulled up
She said nothing just pressed her lips together and got out. Shaking my head I got out myself walking up to the door unlocking it with her behind me.
"Chris?" Lisa said
"Yeah." I mumbled
"Oh you scared me. Who this?" She smiled at London
"London. My...Morgan's mom" I replied to her
"Nice to meet you. I'm Lisa might as well be the girls baby sitter." She joked talking to London.
I let them talk meanwhile I went into the kitchen. I needed a drink. I know that everything happens for a reason, but ALL this, this whole thing...all the dumb shit I did, trash talking, jumping and lonely nights all happened to led up to this very moment. When Nip told me I had to be a changed man I thought he was crazy, but it all makes sense now.
He was training me for this moment here. London came into the kitchen leaning onto the counter next to me.
"Lisa left, she said to call her later on." She mumbled
"Forget her how you feeling?" I asked her pulling her in front of me
"I'm fine." She smiled, but I knew it was fake
"Nah for real London. You been telling me you good, but I know it's a lie. Tell me the truth." I rubbed my thumb in circles on her sides
She took a deep breath. "What do you think Chris? The man I was suppose to marry it going to jail, our baby is due in TWO WEEKS...and here I am left again. Maybe it's a sign." She mumbled
"A sign of what?" I asked
"You left me pregnant and Nip left me pregnant. If this isn't a sign from god then I don't know what the hell it is." She gritted through her teeth
"Listen London our situation Nip and mine is different. I wasn't ready to be a dad...he was, he is. I'm not excusing his actions, but you can't beat yourself up for the messed up men in your life." I told her truthfully.
None of this is her fault, that baby isn't asked to be born into the situation it's born into and London don't have to deal with it by her self.
"I guess." She shook her head
"You want someone to take care of you?" I asked
"What?" She looked up
"Do you want someone to take care of you. Treat you like the woman you are, and be there for you and the kids?" I asked again
"Yes I do. I want someone to love me" She answered
"Then put your faith in me then London. I can do it this time around. I can take care of you, that baby, Morgan and Mimi. I can be that man to love you to the moon and back!" I said
"...You said it was a sign and maybe it is, a sign for me to step up and for us to be a family." I rubbed her hands
She just looked at me.
"Say something." I urged
"Say you love me." She said lowly
I love you." I gripped her face
"Say it again and tell me you'll never stop even when I ask you too." She demanded wrapping her arms around my waist
"I love you and I will never stop." I said just that
"God I love you too." She crashed our lips together as we both slipped into our own world.
"Eww daddy!" I head a little voice
I broke the kiss seeing Mimi standing in the middle of the door way of the kitchen
"What are you doing up little girl?!" I laughed
"I heard you." She said playing with the bottom of her night gown
"I'm sorry." I laughed
"I hungry." She said
"Come here baby." London said
Mimi instantly walked to London with her arms up
London picked her up "what do you want to eat?" She asked her
"Grilled cheese." Mimi smiled
"Okay I can do that for you." London smiled turning to me "go ahead and get in the shower, I'll handle her." She sent me another smile
I kissed Mimi on the cheek making her giggle and kissed the woman of my dreams softly on the lips. Only she isn't the woman of my dreams because this is very much reality...my reality.
