Ashton and I got back to the group and as if it was a surprise, I had won. Let's just say I got the big bucks. Calum didn't end up talking to me after the 'incident.'
I got a text on my phone
Sophia- Christie we need to talk
My heart felt like it just broke into more pieces. Sophia was the first person that never judged me on coming out as lesbian. I was never comfortable telling my family because they had predicted I was lesbian. She was my best friend and I got to hang out with her. As we grew up I slowly started to realize I was falling in love with my best friend. And, I hope at least in the beginning, she fell in love with me too.
She never told her parents but we secretly started dating behind our parents back. She never wanted anyone to know about us. Once her dad found out about us, he forbid her from seeing me. Her parents told her if she didn't get over this "phase" they would disown her. I didn't know about this. She didn't tell me until I saw her walking around with Jared. I was walking down the street hopefully trying to catch a glimpse of her, and I saw them walking together. And as soon as she passed me, she laced their hands together.
I stared back in disbelief. As soon as I saw that I knew what my first heartbreak felt like. I think while she was seeing them she actually fell in love with him.
We ended up leaving and moving away. We went out publicly, but I think she was still seeing Jared after all these years. Just the thought of her not actually meaning those "I love yous" makes me want to cry. And I know Mali would hate me for this but, if she wanted to go back out. I would say yes. In a heartbeat.
I walked away from the group and went in a corner in the backyard. Of course I don't drink so I knew what I was doing.
Christie- what about? laughing at my face and telling me how you were cheating on me all those years. if so, no thanks I get that everyday I wake up without you. i wish I could just forget about us as fast as you did.
Sophia- Christie.
Sophia- I broke up with Jared
That gave me hope. I don't know why but I smiled.
Sophia- I finally know you're the one. My only one baby, and I'm sorry. Can you please come pick me up and we'll talk about it.
I was mentally debating. But I knew that Sophia had me wrapped around her finger. And I didn't want to show her I'm weak. But I still love her, even if I don't show it.
Christie- where are you? I'll come pick you up, I'm at a party.
Sophia- I'm at the corner store near our apartment were we buy ice cream.
Christie- okay I'll be there in 5. I'm taking you back here though, or Mali will kill me.
I walked back to the group.
"Well someone looks happy. What happen? You found someone girlfriend material?" Mali joked.
If I tell her about Sophia she'll kill me, but id rather her know than hide it behind her back.
"Actually, Sophia and I are talking again," I said as I bit my lip," and she's coming here I'm going to pick her up right now."
"What!" Mali yelled. "Christie please don't tell me you're forgiving her that easily, you're too nice and she's just taking advantage of you." Mali said sternly.
"Mali of course not," I explained," we're just talking over things and I want to hear her out."
Mali glared at me. I just smiled.
"I'll be fine I promise," I assured her," I'm just bringing her here so you can see what she has to say too."
Mali eventually gave in.
"Fine but if you're not here in 20 minutes I will call the cops and say Sophia kidnapped you, so hurry," she said like an overprotective parent.
"Yes mother," I rolled my eyes.
I hugged Mali.
"Be right back guys!" I said waving goodbye.
"Wait where you going?" an intoxicated Calum asked.
"To pick up my girlfriend," I smirked.
Well I didn't even give him time to respond as I went outside and turned in my car. I started driving off.
