C H A P T E R T W E L V E"DAD, WHY CAN I NOT GO?"
Annabeth asked her father with a frown on her face as Piper watched curiously, her body side at the door of the kitchen.
Piper could tell Annabeth was getting heated up which was one of the reasons why she had kept her distance the entire time while her father rubbed the back of his neck, glancing over at his wife to help him out. The twins were playing with their toys in the living room floor so either one of them could not be disturbed. Annabeth's stepmother had her hands folded, giving her father a look of disapproval.
"It's only one party, Frederick." She told him, helping Annabeth as best as she could. "It wouldn't hurt."
They were having a short argument in the kitchen so to be unheard from Annabeth's younger half-brothers since the elders didn't want to make a commotion. Piper felt a little uncomfortable and knew it wasn't in her place to be here while Annabeth was arguing with her father since this was so out of her league that she wished to be. Annabeth had begged her for moral support so if it were for that, she would have gone upstairs.
"See?" Annabeth pointed out."even she is agreeing with me."
"I'm not choosing sides-your father has his best intentions but I believe that you should be able to go anyways." She said and turned her head to her husband. "Fredrick, would you rather have you daughter hate you forever or let her go to a party. Friendship with your daughter is much more important than this. Do you want to lose that?"
Fredrick brushed his curly hair as his glasses dangled above his nose."It's not that-"
"Then, what is it?" Annabeth asked, raising an eyebrow as Piper wowed her confidence in her head. "Do you not trust me enough?"
Piper wanted to gasp; why wasn't she tapping this big step in family history? Annabeth had pulled the "trust" card on her father.
"It's not that I don't trust you." He said, helplessly, "I don't trust other people. You could get into serious trouble. Underage drinking and who knows what else?"
"Dad!" Annabeth whined."You don't trust me! Besides, this is not that kind of party here. Her parents are going to be there and it's at a hotel not like someone's basement."
"See,honey. There's nothing to worry about." The middle-aged young lady said with black hair.
"I-" but neither of the ladies could let him finish.
She shook her head. "Annabeth, go upstairs with your friend and get dressed. I'll take care of your father."
A smile of surprise grew on Annabeth's face. "Thanks."
When neither of her parents were looking her way, Annabeth turned her head to Piper and winked.
Annabeth's fingers trailed around the dresses in her closet as Piper can hear her shuffling. During all of this, Piper had her body laying down on the bed, picking lint off of her shirt trying to entertain herself. There's already a bundle of clothes that are laid on the dress that have been already rejected. She could hear Annabeth's mumbling in the closest signaling out every pair of dress for nothing is perfect enough.
