C H A P T E R T W E N T Y - F O U RJ ASON STAYED SILENT.
Please say it's not Thalia.
He could hear a rush of footsteps go down on the floor and he heard his sister talking inside the apartment. She was probably muttering curses at him to why he had taken so long. Jason's eyes widened. Please don't open the door Thalia.
She opened the door with a frown on her face.
"Finally you're here. You have no idea how much trouble your in-" Thalia started to speak; her eyes widened as she spotted the gash on Jason's forehead and the blood on the ripped shirt.
She gasped and her hands fell to her mouth. Jason sideways glanced at the man sitting next to him were his sister could see him. He looked at his sister and his heart broke. Thalia was wearing a striped black and white shirt and a choker around her neck. Her short hair was swept behind her ear and her blue highlights were visible against her light, olive skin and blue pupils.
"What happened to you?" Thalia cried.
She grabbed him, giving him a hug as Jason glanced at the man who raised his gun to the left side of her sister's head. Thalia's eyes flickered at the cold, metal pressed on her head. She widened her eyes and backed away from Jason.
"Raise your hands up and step away from Jason!" Former beanie-hat guy ordered; his hand shaking and the gun in his hand.
Thalia gritted her teeth. "Who are you and how do you know his name?"
"I said raise your hands up!"
She put her hands up, obediently but narrowed her eyes.
"Jason, why is he here?"
"He's here for-"
Jason stopped. He forgot that his sister didn't know. She didn't see father. Thalia widened her eyes and for the second time in his life, his sister was afraid. She looked helpless and scared. Jason wondered if his mother was home but he doubted it. She was never home.
"SHUT UP!" He shouted; turning his head to Jason. "WHERE IS YOUR DAD?"
"He doesn't know," Thalia growled; the man pressed the gun harder to her head as she winced.
"Be quiet." Jason turned his head to his sister.
For a moment, he had almost said his sister's name but it seemed that the man didn't know who she was. Jason couldn't blame him. Her sister looked nothing like his dad like Jason did. Wait a minute, his body frozen. He knew Thalia would hate him for this but he had to.
"Leave this girl alone." Jason turned his head to the other side. "She doesn't live here. She's my tutor, let her go. She doesn't mean any harm."
Thalia's face stayed expressionless except for her eyes that shot daggers at Jason.
He lowered his gun. "You girl leave and if you call the cops, I will shoot him."
"Can I just hug him once more?" Thalia asked innocently.
Jason waited. The man nodded his head.
"Be quick."
He buried his head in his sister's arms. Tears fell down his hair and Jason held her tightly. He wished he could stay here like this with no worries about anything.
"I'll get help," She whispered through tears.
"No, don't."
"But-"
