~A~
Owen had thought about what to do about being grounded with Sang for the following week.
He ignored Sean at dinner because he was busy trying to think of a plan. He had to admit, Sean was right.
Not that he'd be telling him that anytime soon.
He honestly did need to work on an actual relationship with Sang. So, if they could manage to spend a week alone together, without having to deal with the pressure and stress of school, principals and masked guys named Volto, then they'd probably come home again, refreshed and in tune with each other.
Which could be good ... and bad...
Good because he honestly felt they could come home focused and ready to finish the school year and the next steps their family would need to take when the Academy came around testing and asking questions in June once the school year was over.
Bad, well, it could be bad because they might find out that they had a tendency to rub each other the completely wrong way and there was no way any of this would ever work. Owen sighed softly and removed his glasses to run his hands over his face, pinching the bridge of his nose to ward off a headache.
It could also be bad if they ended up admitting how they felt to each other and came home again, unable to avoid each other... landing themselves in the exact position that he'd had to work his butt off to rescue Sean from at Thanksgiving. He felt more than saw, Sean come over and settle on the couch next to the chair he was sitting in. "what?" Owen raised his head and put his glasses back on to study his best friend.
"Decided anything yet?"
Owen shrugged. "No." He said, sitting back in his chair and folding his hands in front of him. "It's a lot to think about." He admitted.
"It is, you're at a very delicate position." Sean said solemnly. Owen raised an eyebrow at him. "You have a chance to have Miss Sang all to yourself for an entire week. All you have to do is say the word and the rest of us will completely leave you isolated and not bother you all week." Owen tilted his head as he considered what Sean was saying. "We would be completely envious of course." Sean said. "Not all of us have the ways or means to get her alone for a week without any other distractions."
"True." Owen said softly.
Sean smiled slightly at him. "She likes the beach." He said. "And even though it's February, there are still some fairly nice days at the beach and I bet you could find a rental place or an Academy connection that wouldn't question the fact that you want to take your girlfriend to the beach for a week."
Owen blew out a breath. "Sounds like a nice break."
"And you never take a break. Ever." Sean said. "Trust me when I say we can handle ourselves if you do take off with Sang. They'll work at the diner and do all the homework for the rest of the term and we might even manage some small jobs."
Owen pursed his lips. "I just don't want to lose something that we can't replace." He admitted. "I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I screwed this all up for all of us."
"She knows that too. She's constantly worried she'll screw up." Sean said, leaning forward in his seat. "Don't you see? The two of you are the ones that have to be committed to this. Everyone else is committed but we're all waiting and holding our breath for the two of you to figure things out. We can't live with that." He stated, giving Owen a stern eye. "So you go, you take her away and the two of you spend all week at the coast doing normal things that normal dating teenagers do." He said.
Owen would have shifted uncomfortably under Sean's gaze but it wasn't anything at all like the cold glares he could give the opposite direction so he merely inclined his head slightly. "You're absolutely right." He said, the mini pep talk from Sean making up his mind for him. "I think a week at the beach with Miss Sorenson really is the best idea."
Sean beamed. "Perfect. Then all you have to do is let Gabriel know what you want him to pack her for the week."
Owen nodded slightly. "All right. I can do that. I'll talk to him tomorrow. I guess I'd better get going on finding a place to stay. Doesn't Victor have access to that beach place? I thought that was his and not George and Jasmine's..." He mused.
"You're right. Check in with him and find out if it's free next week. You know they'll stock up the kitchen as well." Sean pointed out.
Owen smiled finally and sat up more. "Yes, I will do that. Are you heading home then?" He asked as he got up out of his chair, needing to grab his phone and something to drink.
"I can." Sean said. "I could also stick around, crash in the spare room or help you out with your plans..."
Owen chuckled. "Oh, go on with you. Go crash in the spare room, it won't be long until your day catches up with you and you fall asleep anyway."
"Hey, I can eat and sleep whenever and where ever I want to." Sean protested.
"No, my friend." Owen said, resting a hand on Sean's shoulder. "You do that because you don't take the time to go crash in a bed somewhere. Because you're always letting the boys bother you when you need sleep."
Sean huffed a sigh and got up. "Fine." He muttered before heading off to the spare room to crash for at least a nap.
Owen smiled as Sean went. He texted Victor with a question about the beach house as he went to the kitchen to get some tea to drink while he made plans.
Tears stream down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
And I .....
