Haven

Regardless of my resistance I fell back asleep.  It was morning and I still had no plans, other than to work something out with Hazard. He had left at some point, though if he said anything to me I couldn't recall. I do remember the scorching kiss he left on my lips.  My body was weak. In more than one. I was still naked, something I'm sure was done purposely so I wouldn't attempt escape. Honestly, I didn't know if I was a prisoner or not. My trust in Hazard was nonexistent at the moment so there was no turning to him for answers. For the first time I took a look around the room. The massive bed took up the most space but there was still room for a small chair in the corner and two dressers. I noticed the room had three doors, not much different from my room at home. Except this room was simply a place to sleep. There were no pictures or mementos laying around. Hell there didn't even seem to be a TV. "So lets see what's behind door number 1." Ding Ding Ding! Found the closet. I quickly grabbed the first t-shirt I found and threw it on. The last thing I wanted was to be completely nude if someone walked in. That brought back too many unpleasant memories that I would have successfully buried if it wasn't for Hazard and his club. "You shouldn't tease me cupcake." Caught mid snoop further into the closet I turned around and did the first thing that I could think of. Punched him in the jaw. "What the fuck Haven??" "You scared the shit out of me! Besides you deserved that one and a whole lot more if you ask me!" I yelled back at him. "Damn it woman you're going to be the death of me," he smirked like I didn't just clock him in the jaw. Ugh. I pushed by him and exited the closet ignoring my body's stupid desire to touch him as I passed. "What do you want Hazard?" "Just to talk sweets. And to make you an offer." "What kind of offer?" "First why don't you come into the kitchen and have some food. I'm sure the weakness is better but you won't feel 100% until you eat something." "I don't want your food Hazard. Just tell me the offer," I grumbled. "Come one sweets. We'll talk later. First theres some people who want to see you in the kitchen."  I didn't want to comply but I knew I had no grounds to argue with him at this point. Until I could figure out just what the Devil's Blood wanted to do with me I would have to be extra cautious. Hazard held open the door though and all thoughts of argument when out the window. "HAVEN!!"

Hazard

I watched Cade launch his self into Haven's arms. I stood behind her, just in case. I knew she would still be weak. Eating would help but so would seeing the kids. "Haven! I got to see a whole bunch of motorcycles and Dante said I could even ride one! And Lucy took us to the big kitchen for dinner and there was another boy my age! And..." "Ok sport. You can tell her all about it at the breakfast table. Let's let Haven eat something. She's really tired from her trip still." Although her eyes shot me daggers I knew she had to be thankful for my intervention as I took Cade from her arms and sat him down in one of the chairs. Melody came up next and they both shared a hug. She was older and didn't share in the same optimism as Cade about his new surroundings. "Are you hurt?" I heard her whisper. Knowing that she too had been a prisoner of the cartel stung. I wanted to save them from it all but I knew that wasn't possible. There were some things you just didn't unsee. "Where's Punchy?" Haven asked with the glare she seemed to reserve just for me. "He's with the boys. Content." "What does that mean content?? What did you do to him?" I looked over her shoulder seeing the wide eyed stare of Cade and the protective yet worried expression on Melody's face. Shit. Kids was something I had no experience with outside of sneaking Zax, Dante's little boy, cookies before dinner. "Look," I whispered as I pulled her body to the side, "Punchy is fine but he was having trouble sleeping so the boys decided to take him to the bar for a bit to see if one of Jack's mixes wouldn't help. Apparently they underestimated how much the old man could drink and he's been cleaning everyone out of their wallets since."  "Fine," she whisper yelled back, "but I expect to be able to check up on him as soon as possible!" "FINE!" The smile on her face, the one reserved especially for family, was back as she turned around. Guess we were at truce for the moment. "So," I said loudly, "Cereal or Toast?" An eye roll was my only response as the girls started to examine the cabinets.

Thank God Haven could cook.
