Chapter 3: The Mission

Ezra's POV (the long awaited POV)

I woke up to the blinding sunlight in my face. I groan and roll out of bed. I have spent the last two years in hiding from the Empire alone. Nightshade, my sister, was captured three months ago. I haven't heard from her since. I sigh and walk to the door. The days seem darker now that I'm truly alone. I'm having serious thoughts about going back to Kanan. I shake my head, knocking that thought out. He doesn't want me. I've embarrassed him enough. I move slowly from the door to the kitchen to make breakfast. I find a bowl and pour some cereal into it. I hear static from the other room and go to investigate. I find that it's one of my parents old communicators that I fixed up. I gave one to a local kid I know. Nice kid but not a fighter.

"Hey Ezra you there man?" His voice breaks through. "Yeah Danny I'm here." I say swallowing my breakfast. "Ok man. I thought this thing was broke or something." "What do you want Danny?" I ask. "Oh yeah. You need some credits?" He asks. I now start to listen. "Yeah. Why?" I ask listening more intently. "There's this guy willing to give someone like 95 credits is he can pick up some of his guns that the Empire stole from him." I think this over. I do need credits. "Where and when?" I ask. "Awesome man today the shipment will arrive at Port 12 at 12:00 PM" I finish my cereal in one big bite. "I'll be there Over and out."

I don't know where Danny gets this information, but I'm not complaining. I throw my bowl in the sink and go to change. I find new clothes in my closet. I strip out of my old ones and change quickly. I look in the mirror. I really have changed over the past two years. I've let my hair grow longer and I've become more lean. Maybe I should cut my hair. Soon I'm going to have to pin it back. Nah, it'll be fine. I throw on my slingshot and grab my lightsaber just in case. I have about an hour till the ship arrives.

Kanan's POV

As the Ghost lands I think about the op. We're going to steal some guns that the Empire stole from a farmer. The ship arrives at 12 sharp so we need to be ready.

Why have you given up?

I can still hear Hera's voice in my head. I shake it knocking the thought out as I exit the Ghost. Zeb and Sabine follow. "Are you ready?" I ask. They nod. We hop on our speeders and ride into town. As we entered the town we noticed that there weren't as many stormtroopers as we expected to be there. There were two guarding the crates and Two unloading them. I signal for Zeb and Sabine to cut around the back. They nod and do as I say. I take the direct approach. "Hey!" I yell getting their attention. "Stop right there!" One yells. I grab my blaster and begin to shoot. I hit one but three more come out of the ship. I look over for a second and see Zeb and Sabine fighting six more troopers. Man where did all the back up come from?I think aiming my blaster once again.

I move from crate to crate looking for a good shot. Out of the corner of my eye I see a flash of orange. Ezra? I think. I shake my head he wouldn't be here. Just then I see a stormtrooper aiming at Sabine. I redirect my blaster and fire. As I fire I see that same orange thing fly past a few crates. I can't tell who it is because of the cloak they're wearing. I can sense a force signature though. The guy runs from crate to crate hiding and letting us handle the troopers. I don't think he notices me but I duct and hide like him to make sure he doesn't. He moves the the crates we're going the steal and and activates the anti gravity on them.

I notice a trooper heading right for him. He won't see him in time. "Look out!" I yell. He looks up and sees the trooper. Next something amazing happens. He shot the trooper, but in the process his cloak gets snagged on the crate. It rips reveling his face.

I'm going to leave this chapter here because it seems like a good place to stop.
