Kanan's POV
I woke up to hear bloodcurdling screaming coming from Ezra's room. I dash out of bed and bust through the door into his room. What I see frightens to no end. I see Ezra, my padawan, tears streaking his cheeks and his body contorting in strange ways. I rush to his side and try to wake him. "No, this isn't true!" He shouts. I try to reach out to him, but his mind is troubled. His emotions are clouding him. I sigh and sit next to him for a few moments. I wonder what he's dream about?
Ezra's POV
Red. That's the first thing I see. "Nightshade, please don't." I ask shaking. "Oh dear brother, you're so delusional. I hated you from the moment you were born." Tears sting my eyes. I wipe them away fiercely. "No, this isn't true!" I shout. She just smiles and ignites her blade.
I shoot forward breathing heavily. I look around disoriented. I see a figure. Am I still dreaming? I think. The figure comes into focus. Kanan. He's looking at me with worry in his eyes. "Are you alright?" He asks. I nod, unable to speak. "You wanna talk about it?" He continues. The picture of Nightshade flashes before my eyes. I begin to shake. Then I feel a hand on my shoulder. I throw my arms around Kanan.
Kanan's POV
Something's really bothering him. I notice that he begins to shake.I put my hand on his shoulder, not knowing what to do. Then he throws his arms around my neck. I'm stunned and scared. I feel my shirt getting wet. Is he crying? I've never seen Ezra cry. He's always been such a strong kid, but I guess even the mightiest can fall. I wrap my arms around him and comfort him. We sit like this for a moment, but soon he pulls away and wipes his eyes. I look at him in concern. I'd never seen him this bad.
He'd get the occasional nightmare, but this, this is something deep.
Ezra's POV
I couldn't control my actions. I haven't cried since my parents were taken, but now I'm bawling into Kanan's arms. Why? I continue to sob and he rubs my back. I think about everything. It's like my life flashes before my eyes.
My parents.
Nightshade.
Becoming a part of a family again.
Training.
Flying.
Kanan.
Kanan is the one I stop on. He's been like a father to me since I met him.
Do I really think of him as that?
I've shut myself off from everyone and everything, but now can I finally open up is someone?
Could he be the one?
Hera's POV
I hear Ezra scream and footsteps darting across the hall. I walk out of the cockpit silently and go to Ezra's door. I hear crying? I look in to see Ezra's thin arms around Kanan's neck. Kanan rubs his back in a fluid motion like he's done this a thousand times before. He really is a little kid. I think to myself. I smile and return to the cockpit. I sit in my seat and pull out a holo disk. I smile as I look at the picture. Tears well in my eyes.
The picture is of Kanan as a padawan standing next to his master.
Note:
This is the picture Hera is looking at. Credit to Brain-Snook on Devientart. I'll have another chapter up in a few days.
