The week flew by, and it was Friday before I knew it. Training was going well. School was a breeze, Jed became more comfortable around our group. And I had just arrived home from a tiring training with Sensei Jordan, and honestly, all I wanted to do was sleep.
"April!" Milly - my little sister - screeched from the kitchen. I walked up to her, she was squeezing the living daylights out of Shadow my dog.
"Milly, you're scaring him," I laughed.
"Oh sorry," she giggled letting him go, he ran over to me, and snuggled up to my leg.
"Willow's in the living room, BTW," she smiled. What? What was Willow doing here? Weird. I grabbed a glass of water and a mandarin - Sensei Jordan said I should eat more fruit. Like jeez, way to make a girl feel bad.
I walked into the living room, and to my surprise(not) Milly hadn't lied, there was Willow, sitting on the couch, staring out the window.
"Willow?" I questioned.
"Finally! I was almost starting to think you'd never come home!" Willow laughed. I smiled and sat down across from her.
"So, what brings you here, oh, and I'm just going to warn you, I just did a killer training session with Sensei Jordan. Literally. And I'm going to pass out pretty soon." I warned with a small laugh. Willow smiled.
"Well, we've got some serious work to do," Willow said with a devilish grin.
"I'm afraid to ask," I joked. Without explaining Willow jumped up, an trotted down the hall into my room. I followed her. She moved so gracefully, but after my training, all my moves were jerky and slow, like a drunk person trying to walk in a straight line.
"You better be able to walk by tomorrow," Willow said as I entered my room. She'd already started rummaging through my closet. Why? I have no clue. I have quite a big room, my family has a lot of money, but mum and dad don't really care about me, mainly because all they need to do for me is feed me and give me shelter, the DAA does the rest, all they care about is their precious Milly, and I honestly don't care if she's the favoured child, but it would be nice to come home to parents who are excited to see me. I have a queen double bed in the corner of the room near the window. Two of my walls were black, two were white. Black has always been my favourite colour. I had a desk on the far side of the room, with a small lamp, and papers(most likely homework that was due last term) were scattered around on it, and then I had a dresser, and that was my plain boring room.
"Please, go ahead, tear through my cupboard, and throw all my clothes across the floor," I joked as I dodged a pair of flying shorts. After a while, I lay down on the bed and just let Willow do what ever is was she needed to do. As long as she cleaned up afterward, I honestly was too tired to care. Tomorrow I'll probably regret not stopping her, but right now, I didn't care, and I'm not one to think ahead, and think of the later consequences. So I just let her be.
A few minutes passed before I let her jab me in the hip.
"Ok, I've narrowed it down to four choices," Willow said.
"Narrow down what?" I murmured, as I slowly opened my eyes. It took a while for them to readjust. Willow had put the majority of my clothing into one big heap on one side of the room. On the other she had lay out four different combinations of clothing. Option one was a white singlet with navy jeans, the second option was a pink tank top with black jeans, option three was white jeans with a white turtle neck, and option four was light blue jeans with a black singlet. Ok wow, do I really only own jeans?
"Ok, what is this for?" I questioned.
"Tomorrow," Willow smiled. I sent her a confused glance.
"Jeez, do I have to remind you about everything! We're going to the movies, and JED is going!" Willow screeched, really emphasising on the word 'Jed.' At that exact second Milly raced into the room and jumped on the bed.
"Ooooo, who's Jed?" Milly teased.
"No one," I said, giving Willow a death stare.
"Is he hot?" Milly squeaked.
"Yes!" Willow laughed.
"Ok, he's not no one, he's Willow's little crush," I smirked. Milly rolled her eyes, obviously not believing me. We stayed like that in a silence for a while.
"Ok, Milly can you please leave us?" I asked.
"Fine," she groaned, and stomped out the room. I rolled my eyes, and closed the door.
"What's the big deal anyway?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"Have you seen the way Jed looks at you?" She asked.
"What do you mean? He's looks at me the same way he looks at you and everyone else," I replied.
"I wish he did!" She giggled. I just rolled my eyes, and sat back down on the bed. She sat down on the desk chair. "Anyway, you have to look nice! So choose, you have to wear one of these outfits!" She continued. I rolled my eyes, and glanced over all the outfits.
"No to the tank top, BIG no to the all white option, and um," I said. "I think I'll go with the first option, the jeans and white singlet," I continued.
"Damn, I was hoping you'd choose the tank top, to show off your abs, oh, and you really need to tell me how to get abs!" She laughed. I just rolled my eyes, she wouldn't have said the last part if she knew how hard I worked to get them.
Willow went home soon after that, and I spent the rest of my afternoon putting my closet, back in the closet. Thanks for helping Willow. At around 9pm, mum finally decided to come see if I was alive.
"April, your rooms a mess!" Mum shrieked as she poked her head in.
"And?" I mumbled. If she was gunna be grumpy around me, I was gunna be grumpy back.
"I don't want people thinking I'm homing a disaster!" She answered sternly. I rolled my eyes.
"Anyway, Sensei Jordan has to go away on business for the DAA for the weekend, so you have the weekend off," She continued.
"Ok," I said plainly.
"So," she added. I hopped off my bed and continued my room, hoping she'd figure out I didn't want her here.
"April?" She questioned.
"Yes?" I answered turning towards her.
"Are you going to do anything on your weekend off? Who's that friend that was over earlier. Wendy was it?" She asked.
"Willow," I corrected. Mother of the year, doesn't even know her daughters best friends name. "And what about her?" I continued.
"Are you doing anything with her?" Mum asked.
"Since when do you care?" I said impatiently.
"Since I'm your mother," she answered. "And I have the right to know," she continued. Here we go again, pretending to care about me, but honestly, she just didn't want me to run away like other kids handed over to the DAA did, because if I ran away, Milly would have to go to the DAA.
"Urg, fine, I'm going to the movies with Willow, my group and the new kid Jed," I grumbled.
"New kid?" Mum repeated.
"Yeh, Jed Octavis," I replied.
"Remember, never trust the unknown," mum said as she exited the room. Weird?
