Alone. No one knows what really it means until they truly are alone as I am now. It’s an interesting feeling, sort of sad, sort of terrified, bored, panic, and loneliness. My chest hurts from the sadness, panic and loneliness; my head swirls with the terror and boredom. It is as if I can’t move, or don’t want to at least. What’s the point really, nothing much to do, or say. I’m alone, no one to talk to, what is there for me to do?
I sit here on my boat with my bags to my side and the tide gone away from me now. The…weather is different that is for sure. There is a slight breeze constantly, coming down from the mountains. The sun shines but it isn’t to hot like it is back home. Home, do I have a home anymore? This island? I guess this is my home. What really is home? Is this how philosophers think up those kind of questions? What is home? It seems like a simple question but it has so many different answers? I only really think of it now because I am alone. I know I’m rambling. It’s this stupid open air, there is like nothing here, nothing. I feel like nothing. I’m so empty, I feel so empty. Maybe that is hunger. I don’t really know anymore. What do I do now? A look to the left, a look to the right.
“ENOUGH!” I jump up in the air. “Enough.” I say softer. I am tired of just sitting around doing nothing. Time to get to it, time to make this place my home. Oh yah, now I know what home is. Home is where ever you make it, I am going to make this my home I don’t have a choice now do I? Well I know I have firewood to last me for a while, haha get it, the boat. I could also use it for shelter, or maybe just part of it. I scan the edge of the wooded area near the beach. I guess my best bet for a safe shelter would be somewhere in there. I don’t know what kind of animals live her though, so I don’t really know what is safer…humbug. There could be snakes, or jungle cats, or spiders. Actually I think maybe it would be best to make a shelter on the beach. What if it rains though? Darn this hard, there really is no easy way to run away is there? Gosh! Fine, I guess I’ll just take a walk up and down the beach and look for something to…suddenly inspire me I guess. I shouldn’t go to far though, I might get lost. This is a completely new world after all, new, unfamiliar, strange. As I walk up the beach I notice something off in the distance, the trees end and there started a band of bright green, and what appears to be a river coming from it. As I walk towards it, it becomes more obvious that it is a swamp like area. There is tall grass, about shoulder high on me, muddy grounds that mix with sand as it meets the beach and water from the swamp forming into a stream that leads down into the ocean. I part the grass and step in, instantly my feet squish into the mud. Ew. This might be better barefoot than with shoes. After removing my shoes and tossing them onto the beach I continue into the grass, in no time my feet are mud encrusted. You know… I think I could use this grass, maybe as some kind of house. It will take some work though, some time, some skill I probably do not have, some idea right? Well, time to get cracking, How to get the grass from here to the boat is another question. The grass is about five feet tall, five inches wide at the base and slowly gets slimmer. I could just cut them, but with what? I think I have a knife in my bag back at the boat, I suppose I should go get that and come back. I journey back to the boat a mile down the beach and climb into the boat, the tide has completely gone out now, my boat, carelessly left behind. I feel a little tinge of anger towards the water for leaving me behind, I’ve left so much behind and now it leaves me stranded. The thought occurs to me, I don’t know how long I’ll have until the tide returns, which will in turn probably take my boat out with it. So…I guess before I get the grass I should try and figure out a way to get this boat out of the water. Whoopie, that sounds exciting. Well, I could try and get it out the same way I got it in; with a big blast of fire. Okay…lets try that. I climb into the boat and go to the back of the boat. I hope I don’t burn the boat down, up, I don’t know what you would call it. Okay…time to try it again, how did I do it the first time. I think I just shot my hands out? Basic right, ha. One… oh gosh…two…I’m scared…three…Go! I blast my hands out force as much energy as I can into my fire. My body relaxes and fills with that warm glow that I remember from the first time I ever created the fire with my own hands. The fire extended far off and illuminates the world with a bright light. Is… is the water boiling? That’s strange. WHOA! I think the boat is moving. I think I felt it move just a little. Come on, lets give it some more juice! I muster up more energy into my fire and it erupts in an even bigger blast of energy. There it is again! The boat moved a bit, just slightly but I did feel it move. Come on, lets keep it up. I continue the stream of fire the best I can but I can feel my energy waning slowly. I have to keep it up though, the boat has moved a little. But…I don’t know how much longer I can do this, I’m getting really tired. Come on just…AHHHHHHH. Ow, that hurt a lot. Well I guess the boat wasn’t moving, I was. Considering I just flew off the boat into the sand 10 feet away, I’d say that stupid boat isn’t going anywhere for a while. I curl up into a ball in the sand and stare off into space, trying to suppress the pain in my lower back and head. That really hurt. I sigh slowly and close my eyes. Now what? Do I wait for the water to come in again? Do I try again? I don’t know what to do. I guess I’ll just have to wait. I’m tired…I think I’ll just lay here in the warm sand for a little while.
