The councilmen is about to speak. About to give their verdict. Sealing my fate. The door opens and a messenger comes hurrying in. He looks scared…what? He runs over to the councilman and whispers to him. Now it’s the councilman’s turn to look scared.
“A…A tornado has been spotted on the outskirts of the forest, heading this way. Everyone is ordered to evacuate to a safe place. Now.” The councilman booms to the audience. A few screams are drowned in my ears by my questions. A tornado? We don’t get tornado’s here. A tornado right now? It wasn’t even windy outside or stormy. It was a beautiful day. A tornado?....MAZIN!
OH my gosh what? It couldn’t be! Is Mazin here! I have to escape he’s here for me! I don’t know how but he is. I just know it! The chains around my ankles, wrists, I have to get them off. Metal…metal melts right? Haha I can do this. Slow heat to them, I can do this right? The guards are heading over here to take me. I will not let them.
“Hey councilman!” I shout. They all stop and look at me as they hurriedly leave the room. “You put these chains on me to keep me from running and to keep me from controlling fire. But do you think a true Tamer needs their hands or feet?” They look at me in terror as my hair starts to lift on end as I focus energy around myself. I look and see my parents in the stands watching me. I wave goodbye to them. The guards step back nervously. One blast that’s all I need. I surround myself in a ball of fire. The metal chains around my wrists melt from the heat I create but I feel nothing. I’ve realized that. I can keep myself from burning. Hands free, feet free I loosen myself up. This dress needs to go next. The stiching is…less than perfect. I reach down and grab the ruffling skirt and rip the bottom half off. Much better, I can move.
Let’s go.
Volcana. I need to go get Volcana. I can feel her now. Whatever they had in place to interfere with our connection, it’s gone. Probably in the panic of the tornado. Mazin.
She is deep in the mountain. Being kept still somehow. I head towards her. Two guards try and get in my way, I’m not concerned. I wave my arms around like pinwheels creating two thin circles of fire around me. They see me, they see my eyes and jump out of the way. Cowards. I pass ten more guards before I make it to where I sense Volcana. No one has been able to stop me. No one has tried. Who would, they are defenseless against fire. Volcana I’m coming. Who all is with you? Can you get out easy? There are only a few. I can break the chains any time. Fools. Good girl. Just another minute. Wait a minute and break them. I will be there soon. Is there a way out? There is a large window we can fit through. Awesome.
A minute later I hear a loud crash and yells from the guards. That’s my girl. She’s free and I’m almost to her. When I open the door I see her cornering the two gaurds. The chains she had been held with are broken into pieces around the floor of the stone cell. The men beg and cower.
“Volcana.” I shout. They look over to me, when they see me and recognize who I am they scramble away. All bark no bite. When they are pressed these cowards just run away. They really thought they could keep me in custody. “Okay Volcana let’s get out of here. Mazin is here.” I run over to her and smile. She purrs as I reach out and stroke her head. We missed each other. It feels good to have her back, really good. It will be even better when I have Mazin back.
