Maurice was already outside waiting for me. He approached the car and I got out.

"So what was it you wanted me to see?" He said with a smile.

I lifted up my shirt and showed him my back.

"When did you get this?" He said with the biggest smile on his face.

"Today." I said happily.

He kissed me, "I love it."

"I love you." I responded.

"I wanted to take you somewhere." He said.

"Where?" I asked.

"It's a surprise." He said.

He pulled out his keys and unlocked his car. I got in and we drove for miles. I fell asleep for half of the ride.

When I woke up I was sitting in a parking lot. I looked around for Maurice he was no where to be found.

I didn't get out of the car because I didn't know where I was. I turned around startled when Maurice got into the car.

"Where are we?" I asked.

"A phone store." He said, "When did you wake up?"

"A few minutes ago," I said, "Why?"

"Good." He smiled.

I furrowed my eyebrows, "What do you mean?"

"Then you would've seen my surprise." He said.

I smiled, Oh okay."

I looked at my phone a saw a missed called from unknown number. It left a message so I called it back. Less than one ring the person answered.

"Hello," A man's voice answered.

"Hello?" I responded, " Who is this?"

"Your father," He said, "Where are you?"

"Don't worry about it." I said hanging up before he could get a word in.

A few minutes later he called again from an private number. I swiped left and ignored his call. Why does he want to act like a father now? Eighteen years too late for that.

I put my phone in airplane mode and sighed.

"Maurice can I see your phone?" I asked.

He handed me his phone as he drove. I placed my thumb on his home button and unlocked it.

I dialed Adrian's hospital room. He didn't answer. I sighed heavily.

"Maurice where is your aux cord?" I asked.

"It's already plugged in." He said.

"Where though?" I asked.

"By the radio, where else?" He said smartly.

"Don't get an attitude." I said.

He pushed my head against the window.

"You better be lucky you're driving?" I said.

I don't like him sometimes.

"Or what?" He said stopping the car.

"Stop playing." I said.

"I don't think I'm playing." He said.

"Can you drive please?" I said annoyed.
