Chapter Seventeen: n
Song: Tokyo Narita by HalseyI was higher than empire state building. Late at night I had snuck out of August's house and went to the nearest night club. I was a hot mess and I've finally realized how far I've fallen.
I let one man change my entire perspective, veer my entire life. I'm pathetic.
Walking through a dark alley I slid down the brick wall onto the floor. I couldn't cry, I had nothing left in me. Unlocking my cell phone I slide through my contacts. No one left I could trust.
One by one I deleted each name. Ryker, Clementine, my house, my mother, Cobra, and every last fake friend I had. As I was sliding through the names I came across something new.
August.
Never have I been so grateful, fumbling with my fingers I called the number.
"Hello?"
"I need you."
I felt myself drifting away when strong familiar arms scooped me up.
"It looks like your in my arms again darling."
He carried me to his car and sat me in the passenger seat. The car ride was smooth and quiet, only the sound of the wind raging against the car.
"Alison." I whispered.
"Huh?"
"Alison."
"That's a beautiful name, I'm glad to finally get to put a name to your face. Is there anyone you know Alice? Someone I can contact?" He asked.
I shuddered at bit at the question, "I have no one."
Walking in the house he lead me a couch and disappeared into the kitchen. He came back with a cup of tea, handed it to me and sat on the couch opposite to me.
"What happened to you Alice, how does such a beautiful girl like you turn to darkness?" he questioned.
"The darkness consumes everyone. Some quicker than others, some are controlled while some control it. But some are weak and pathetic, and once they get a taste of the darkness it takes away everthing they have."
He stands up slowly coming to sit next to me, he takes the cup out of my hands putting it on the coffee table. August's rough hand brushes along my cheek delicately as if I am fragile porcelain. I want to lean into his hold, I want to touch my chapped lips to his soft plumbed ones but I don't. I know I'm past being saved, I know my flaws will taint his perfect soul, and I know that I am broken. I'm tired of being a china doll.
Standing up I looked over to him, but not in the eyes. I could never stare into those truthful fog eyes and say what I'm about to say.
"Thanks for all you've done, but you cannot resuscitate what is already dead inside me. Just promise you'll remember me." I whispered the last part but I know he heard it.
Goodbye August.
