23: A Whole New World

Fanladies and gentleshippers, I bring you... The moment you've all been waiting for...

Yami helped Yugi onto the carpet by his hand. Yugi hesitantly stepped onto it, trying to balance himself.

Suddenly the carpet took off, catching Yugi off guard. Quickly, he clung onto Yami, frightened. His eyes were shut tight and he had a tight grip around him.

Yami only smiled at him assuringly, helping him kneel comfortably onto the carpet and holding his hand.
Yugi, not so afraid anymore, looked down on the entire city. Up the flew, above the palace walls and over the city.
Buildings and bridges, small streams and even the marketplace! Only, the whole city was asleep, so they couldn't freak anyone out with their carpet.

Yami sang to Yugi, "I can show you the world...shining, shimmering splendid!"

While Yugi admired the view, Yami took a flower from someone's case and handed it to him. Yugi sniffed it, sneezed like a panda, but still blushed at the thought. "Tell me, Yugi, now when did you last let your heart decide?"

"I can open your eyes...take you wonder by wonder! Over, sideways, and under, on a magic carpet ride!" The carpet made sharp turns and lifts, making the ride more fun.

"A whole new world!" Yami sang as the carpet lifted itself into the clouds. Yugi looked down and off the edge, seeing the only place he ever lived. It looked so small from such a distance.
"A new fantastic point of view! No one to tell us no, or where to go, or say we're only dreaming..."

"A whole new world!" Yugi beamed, not able to help it; he wanted to sing too. "A dazzling place I never knew...! But when I'm way up here, it's crystal clear;" he blushed and looked at Yami. "...now I'm in a whole world with you..."

Grinning, he took his hand and grinned as the carpet began to soar higher into the clouds. "Now I'm in a whole new world you!"
Then they spun and shaped a cloud to look like a swirl cone. Or the Poop emoji.

"Unbelievable sights!" Yugi and Yami flew next to a flock of birds, who were shocked to see them. Yugi reenacted the Titanic scene and stretched out his arms. "Indescribable feeling!"
"Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling through an endless diamond sky!" The carpet spun them in a loop de loop, even flew away and dropped them, but catches them before they fell too far.
"A whole new world!" The carpet began to swoop down, closer to the ground. Yugi was scared and covered his eyes, but Yami held him close and pulled his hands away.

"Don't you dare close your eyes!" They swooped down by a river and passed several fishing boats.

"A hundred thousand things to see!"

"Hold your breath; it gets better!"

"I'm like a shooting star, I've come so far!" They passed a man working on the nose of the Sphinx. They waved to him, smiling.

Seeing them, he smiled but had to do a double take to make sure he wasn't seeing things. In doing so, the nose of the Sphinx fell to the ground.

Yugi winced, but continued to sing, "I can't go back to where I used to be!"

"A whole new world!"

"Every turn a surprise!"
They flew down towards a group of horses that were galloping somewhere. Yugi pet one and it beamed at the gesture.

"With new horizons to pursue!"

"Every moment, red letter!"

"I'll chase them anywhere. There's time to spare," they sang together this time, flying into Greece. They flew past statues and trees.
"Let me share this whole new world with you..."

Yami picked an apple and tossed it to Yugi without thinking. "A whole new world..."

"...A whole new world..." Yugi caught it and his eyes widened, knowing that he was right all along. Still he smiled at Yami, knowing he's going to get his answers wherther he liked it or not.

"That's where we'll be..."

The carpet swooped down to the pond, where Yugi reached out and let his hand make ripples in the water.
"...that's where we'll be..."

"A thrilling chase," Yami felt the need to check on his complexion in his reflection on the water, but Yugi snuck in and smiled at him.

"A wondrous place,"

Together they sang,"For you and me..." Yugi rested his head on Yami's shoulder, and they interlocked their fingers behind them, holding hands.

The carpet ran along the water, allowing this moment to last.
