Tyler's POV

I woke up in a strange room with bright lights. I tried to push myself up but there were sharp pains shooting through my entire body. It was unbearable and I screamed out in pain.

A machine suddenly began to beep and three people in white jackets rushed in the room in seconds. I had never seen them before and I still did not know where I am. They wore masks and tried to grab me, I panicked and screamed trying to ignore the pain I was in. I was scared.

Through the chaos I could hear the machine beeping more expeditious. My breaths got heavier and heavier and I felt like there was a stack of bricks on my chest.

Two bigger men in white coats ran in and pinned me down while another forced a mask over my face.

The next time my eyes opened, they were greeted by an even brighter light.

I sat up slowly and saw a little boy in a chair with his head on the bed I was in. I tapped him until he finally sat up.

His eyes almost popped out of his head at the sight of me. He jumped onto my lap and hugged. I was confused as to who he was and why he was hugging me but the feeling I got when he did made me push these questions to the back of my head and embrace him.

"Hey kid...who are you?" I said slowly pushing him back after awhile.

"It's me.. I'm TJ. Remember?" He said every word with so much hope in his eyes.

The hope quickly turned to sadness. "They were telling the truth... You really don't remember anything.." His voice drifted as he slowly backed away from me, tears forming in his eyes.

I just sat there with a blank expression, I didn't know what he was talking about of what I was supposed to remember.

He ran towards the door and returned moments later with a man that looked like him and another that was pale and wore a long white coat. They stood on the far side of the room talking in hushed tones as they looked back and forth at me.

I over heard word of an "Dissociative Amnesia" and possible long term memory loss. The whole time I am still sitting here trying to figure out what the hell I'm supposed to be remembering.

The man in the white coat walked over to me slowly. He examined his clipboard and eyed me curiously.

"What is your name?" He asked.

Without even thinking I answered Tyler.

"What is your last name?"

"Jackson"

"How old are you?"

"I'm 17. What's the point of this?"

"Who is the other man in this room?"

I looked at the man who looked at me with sadness in his eyes. He looked just like the little boy that was hugging me earlier but older of course.

"That's the little boy's father." When I said this the man buried his face in his hands.

The man sighed. "Can you name your close friends for me?"

I tried but no names came to mind. Then he showed me a picture of a girl. She was really pretty, bright smile and all. Her hair looked so soft, like it flowed with a soft tidal wave. Her lips were cute and pink, and the sight of them made my heart skip a beat. But nothing in my mind knew who she was. She was a beautiful stranger. The girl in the photograph that I had some apparent connection to.. was a complete mystery just like everything else.

"Do you know her?"

I shook my head no. He laid the picture down on a table next to my bed.

"Do you know where the wound on your shoulder came from?"

I looked the the scar, touching the scar slightly. Whatever it was didn't hurt anymore, but it looked like it did.

"No."

He wrote something down on his clipboard and explained to me what happened. I got shot twice, three times counting the old wound. and somewhere in that I lost my memory, a lot of it.

He explained to me that the man in the room was my father and the boy was my younger brother. I had friends named Shay, Kayla, Dontae and Derek.  The girl in the picture was my girlfriend Jessica. And so many more things..

But even with him telling me these things nothing came back. I couldn't believe him. I just couldn't.
