*Kayla's POV*

Before I knew it we were sitting in a hotel room thinking of ways to get Tyler's memories back. We were told to bring something significant from our individual relationships with her. Shay and I brought friendship bracelets that we made with Tyler when we were 13 years old. It was significant because on mine... there was a picture of a heart in a locket of my name carved in a tree that Tyler did. But if the bracelet didn't work I had a plan B. I brought the knife Tyler had the night she saved me.

I was going in with Shay because I was afraid to be alone in this situation. It's been three days since Tyler woke up and found out that her memories were gone, then there's still no guarantee that it'll come back at all. That's a possibility of me and everybody else  losing Ty forever.. and honestly I can't even imagine how it would be to lose someone that wasn't dead.

-

When we walked in the room Tyler was sitting on the side of the bed in her regular clothes with her feet up watching her favorite cartoon, The Justice League.

"You remember this show?" Shay asked as she pulled up a chair next to her.

"No, but my brother said I loved it and I can see why."

I slowly sat on the small couch against the wall.

"Can I guess who your favorite character is so far?" Shay asked her as Tyler turned and eyed her weirdly, sitting up in her seat. "Go for it." She replied.

"Batman, because Batman is mysterious and you love how he has no powers and is, in your words 'A complete badass'."

"How'd you know that?"

"Memory or not..somethings never change."

Tyler eyed her oddly with a smirk on her face. "You must be one of my friends they asked me about."

"Shay." She replied with a wide smile on her face.

"So she must be Kayla?" Tyler questioned motioning towards me. "Why is she over there? I thought everybody wanted to help me."

"We do Ty, but you and Kayla had a... I guess complicated friendship."

Oddly enough Tyler stood up and walked over towards me, occupying the small space next to me.

"You're the one they told me I saved before. I don't remember doing it though. Is it true?" She looked me directly in my eyes and looking in them now... it was like her entire shine was gone... like she was new and it flood me with sadness. I felt tears escaping my eyes giving Shay a look and she caught the hint to leave the room.

The door slowly shut behind her and I turned to Tyler who looked completely lost.

"You saved me a couple of times actually...."

"How?"

"Well.... I guess you could say you have a thing for putting yourself before others."

She reached toward my hand and looked at the bracelet on my wrist.

"You made this?"

"No you made it Ty. When we were thirteen the three of us made them, you carved my name into a tree at the park and we took a picture of it and put it in here." I said as I opened the locket and showed her the picture.

She shook her head indicating that she still didn't remember. I took a deep sigh and threw my face into my hands.

I felt her gently grab my hands to reveal her kneeling in front of me. She placed my hands in hers and caressed them with her thumbs.

"I know I don't remember anything but I don't want you to cry. I could get better you never know..." her voice drifted off as she slowly wiped a tear from my eye.

"You're taking this really well..."

"My father told me that in bad situations I tended to keep calm and hope for the best, I guess I didn't lose that."

I let out a small laugh.

"Can you tell me more about myself?"

I smiled joining her on the floor and starting from the beginning......
