Chapter 15

Tyler's POV 💭

It was my mother ... Or at least I think it was . She looks so different . She looked really really beat up . Except her hair , her hair was nice . I leaned against the wall , everything was silent until my sister walked in . Her perky greeting suddenly faded when she noticed are mother .

"What's going on?" She mouthed to me. I just shrugged . My mother stood up and cleared her throat .

"I was released early from the center because of my progress .. And also because I had a few medical issues ." She stated , half smiling at all of us.

I walked over to the table and eyed her curiously. "Medical issues like what?"

"Well .... I have Cancer . Stage 3 actually ..." She said still managing to keep the smile on her face .

Everybody's jaw dropped . My dad placed his hand over hers and held it tightly . My sister placed her hand over her mouth and tried to hold back her tears . My brother ran to me and cried into my stomach , gripping not only my shirt but my skin too .

I guess I didn't have the same reaction as everyone else because my mother stood up and walked up to me , placing her hand on my cheek and wiping away a small tear that escaped my eye .

Once my family finally calmed and came to terms with my mothers situation , my mom , my sister , and I decided to go out for a girls night. Luckily the carnival was in town and as me and my sister grew up it was always our favorite thing to do .

I took a shower and threw on gray fitted sweatpants a white nike shirt and white Air Force ones . After I got dressed I sat on the floor in front of my bed and stared at myself in the mirror and was soon joined by my sister who was dressed in red skinny jeans , a white crop top and red toms .

"You ok?" She asked placing her hand on my shoulder . Though I knew I wasn't i nodded yes . She stood up and put her arms underneath my arm pits and picked me up off the ground .

"It's ok,"she said holding my hand,"I'm not ok either." She pulled me downstairs where our mother was and a few minutes later we left . I offered to drive just to be nice . My mother sat next to me in the passenger and my sister in the back seat . The ride was filled with an awkward silence minus the radio playing .

When we arrived at the carnival I noticed there weren't many people here . Which was good to me . We got out of the car . I purchased out tickets and we walked it .

"You know what we should do first." I said smirking towards what I was talking about .

"HOUSE OF MIRRORS!" They screamed in unison when they finally figured it out . My mom grabbed out hands and we all ran into the House Of Mirrors . My sister took out her phone and of course we started taking pictures . First some of me and my mom , Then some of me and my sister , my sister and my mom , then all three of us in the different mirrors .

After the house of mirrors we walked around eating cotton candy . We stopped to see the monkey and played a few games , me and my sister both winning our mom teddy bears . We laughed and talked like there were no problems in the world. It felt how it felt before my sister graduated and my mom left for rehab . Everything was in place again and I couldn't ask for more.

After awhile we sat at a table near one of the food stands . We sat down and shared onion rings .

"So Tyler any lucky ladies?" My mom asked smiling at me .

"Weeeeeeellllllllll ..." I said smiling and looking around .

"You got the girl?!" My sister asked .

"I did . Her girl didn't deserve her." I said . They both eyed me curiously so I told them everything .

"Well you defending her like that was great ." My mom said ." I want to meet her ."

I choked on a onion ring , slightly shocked and not ready for that."Oh.. Um.. Really? When?" I stuttered out .

"Whenever is fine with me ." She smiled . I smiled back and pulled out my phone , excusing myself and calling Jessica .

"Her baby!" She answered .

"Hey sweetheart , you busy ?" I asked

"No I've been waiting to hear from you all day . You ok?"

"I'm fine , but I wanna see you. Come to the carnival !"

"You're at the carnival ?" She asked curiously .

"Yes ! Now bring your beautiful booty down here so I can kiss your face!" I said laughing .

" Ok ok ! Give me ten minutes baby." Then she hung up . I smiled to myself and texted her where to meet me then headed back to the table .

"What was that about?" My sister asked .

"You'll see ." I said smiling very hard.

The ten minutes went by and Jessica kept her word . She walked up behind me and I immediately stood up to introduce her .

"Jessica this is my mom and my sister Tiffany . Mom and Tiffany this is Jessica ." I said then pulled out a chair for Jessica to sit .

We all sat and talked for about half an hour , my mom and sister got to know Jess pretty well and they really like her . And we eventually got up and walked to the roller coaster line.
Well .... I had I carry Jessica because she was being scary .

It was getting late and we started to leave the carnival . My mom and sister said goodbye to Jessica then I walked her to her car . I leaned against the driver side door and pulled her on me .

"Thanks for coming sweetheart." I said smiling

"No problem . I had fun ! But you still look like there's something bothering you baby ."

"It's just ... My mom just got back and everything feels so right . But at the same time she dropped on us that she has cancer and she's acting like everything's cool. I'm just worried ."

Jessica kissed my cheek. "If she's being strong you have to be strong with her baby .. That's all you can do."

I sighed knowing she was right . She wrapped her arms around me and kissed me , earning whistles from my mom and sister . We laughed it off and went our separate ways for the night .
