Chapter 21

I know it has been a long time since I have updated this story, but I really wanted to get the last half of the book planned out well. I know this is a kind of short chapter but the next couple of chapters will be really long because there is so much that is going to be happening. There's a picture of Valistar to the side. It's not exactly how I imagine him, but it's close enough.. I had to use an anime picture because of the fact that there are no real guys with blonde hair and red eyes, but I feel like it represents him closely enough. I hope you enjoy! As I walked out of the cave I had a smile stuck to my face. The feeling of these powers flowing through my veins was glorious, it was truly amazing and I had never felt anything quite like it. Darien looked at me and his mouth fell agape.

"Scarlett... You're glowing!" he whispered in awe as he walked over to me and trailed a hand up along my arm, even his simple touch sent shivers along my body.

"I feel...amazing. Like nothing could ever compare to this feeling. This woman in there, she was beautiful and so powerful. Like a goddess."

"You met Phobe?" Darien's face was that of utter shock and wonder.

"Is that her name?"

"Yes, this is all very odd. Did she do anything to you?"

"She touched the spot over my heart. But other than that, no." I touched the same spot she had touched and was surprised to find that it was still warm and lingering.

"I've got to take you to Father Sinsata, this is phenomenal. Phobe, a vampire queen of sorts hasn't manifested in over thousands of years. Scarlett you're amazing!" Darien picked me up in a big hug and gave me a genuine smile.

We practically ran back to the church laughing the entire way, surprisingly enough Father Sinsata was waiting for us outside. He took one look at me and broke into a smile.

"Well my dear, it would appear that my idea worked, this is amazing. You are radiant."

"There's more, not only did she get in touch with her powers, but Phobe manifested herself to Scarlett and touched the spot over her heart!" Darien exclaimed.

Father Sinsata was quite for a minute, his mind far away and lost in thought. As he opened his mouth to speak Julius, Corleen and Aqua walked out.

"Sister, Alex is awake. He's asking for you." She said hugging me, she looked at me, a small smile playing on her face. "I assume that all went well today?"

"Yes, it was truly a blessing. I will go see Alex now."

Darien went to follow me but I turned to him, "I'm gonna go alone. I promise I'll be fine." I said softly as I leant up and kissed him gently.

As I approached the room where Alex was staying I took a deep breath composing myself before knocking.

"Come in." A weak voice called.

I opened the door and stepped in, "Hey Alex."

"Scarlett, I'm glad that you came. Listen I-" He went to speak but I cut him off with a wave of my hand.

"No Alex it's fine."

"No it's not. I acted on emotion and it was stupid of me, I put you in distress and worried you. For that I am sorry." His eyes casted downwards, he looked truly sorry.

I went and I sat down next to him, taking his hand in mine, "Look, I know things are crazy and weird and just all mixed up. I myself don't know how I feel, about anyone, or anything. I'm just as confused and scared as the next person. You will always be my friend, no matter what. Just let me settle everything I have going on right now and then we'll talk. I just...I kind of have to save the world, and with that on my mind I can't think about anything else. I want to protect everyone. Even if it costs me my life." I felt tears building up in my eyes and I bit the inside of my cheek to keep them at bay. 

"Scarlett..." Alex's voice was a bare whisper.

"I've gotta go. I'll be back, just focus on getting better. You almost died." With a soft smile I left the room.

As I exited the room and closed the door I leaned against it, letting a single tear escape my eye. I needed to go and think. I walked outside and walked through the garden. From now on things are going to move quickly, I didn’t know what was in the future. I only knew that I would fight with all my heart, fight and give my life if I had to. I wouldn’t let everyone die!

“My, my. You are something else my dear.” A voice called from the forest, Valistar walked out a smile on his face, but his eyes held a different emotion, I couldn’t quite figure out what it was, but it made me nervous.

“Oh, hello Valistar, what are you doing here?” I asked smiling.

“I came to see you of course!” He said as he walked over to me and embraced me, “You look amazing! There’s something different about you! What is it?”

“Well, my powers have emerged.” I said in a sheepish voice.

A look of shock overcame his face, a first it was happiness, but then his lips turned downward in a frown, “What is it?”  I asked.

“Nothing, it just seems I will have to put plans into motion much quicker than what I anticipated. I am truly sorry Scarlett, I wish things could have worked out differently.” He said.

“Wait. What do you mean?” I asked as I tried to take a step back, but he grabbed my wrist and pulled me closer, and his lips descended onto mine. I struggled against him, tears falling down my cheeks. I couldn’t fight, I was paralyzed. I literally couldn’t move. And then suddenly I felt a need to sleep overcoming me, darkness was creeping in on me and I couldn’t fight it. What was this? What was happening? Valistar, why?...

I couldn’t find Scarlett anywhere, she was gone, missing and a deep sense of worry and foreboding flooded into my heart. Panic set in when I realized what had happened. Scarlett had been kidnapped!
