"Do you drive?" I nod. "Then you can drive Liam's car behind me. We can ditch my motorcycle a mile from here, and use the car to take another route back." He sees the doubt in my expression. "It's for the safety of Harry and Liam. They're strong, but I don't think they can handle ten or more of those things at once." He reached for my shoulder, and runs his fingers down my arm. When his fingers reach mine, he grasps them. "Nothing will happen to us. If we don't so this, Harry and Liam are at risk. Please don't let me lose my best friends."
I remove my eyes from the floor and look into his concerned eyes.
"What about your motorcycle? Will we just leave it there forever?"
"We'll go back for it. Don't worry, Ray. I'd rather have my best friends than a motorcycle."
"Okay." I agree.
A smile breaks out on his face.
"Thank you!" He exclaims. He pulls me into a hug, dropping my hand.
Yep. Zayn was definitely in a strange mood.
Well.
This'll be interesting.
"We need to be quick. In and out. It'll be simple." Zayn says, leading me to his motorcycle that he keeps out back out of sight with the other vehicles. "Liam's car is a hybrid, so it's quiet. That'll help us out a lot."
"Okay." I nod with one hard movement. Zayn swings his leg over the motorcycle. "Let's do this shit." Zayn says, sliding his helmet on and patting the top twice. I get into Liam's car and start it up. Zayn revs his engine and heads out, me following behind.
The plan is that Zayn is going to make as much noise as possible to lead the walkers away from the city. He said that there's a farmer market a mile out that he can safely store his motorcycle in for a while. We'll then take a back road tin Liam's car to get back to the gas station.
I follow Zayn for a while. He's going slowly to make sure the walkers hear us. After a few minutes, I see the farmers market in the distance. Looking in my rear mirror, I see a few walkers far back. Our plan seems to be working so far.
When we near the farmer's market, Zayn turns on his right turn signal and raises his right hand. We both turn into the parking lot. He gets off of his motorcycle, and I open to car door.
"I'm going to drive the bike round back, alright? Meanwhile maybe you can look inside for some food and supplies? Liam and I have never really bothered to check this place out."
"Sure thing." I grab the car keys and put them under the seat. Zayn got back on his bike and I entered the farmers market.
The place looked a mess. The little stands that used to hold fresh fruit are now chipping and dusty. There's no sign of fresh food anywhere. There are rotting crops on the floor and flies all around. This place just reminds me how much the world has ended.
"Hello?" I whisper. When I know the coast is clear, I walk around.
There are many jar of jam, and I think they're worth grabbing.
"I need a plastic bag. There might be one in the closet." I think.
There are none near the cash register, and none near the shelves. The only place left to check is the closet.
"The blood splattered cabinet." I shudder. I reach for the door handle.
"AHH!"
It grabs my arms. It comes near my face. I put my hands on its shoulders, trying to push it back.
