"L-Liam?" Harry stuttered. "I haven't seen you in weeks!" He stumbled off Liam and gave him a hand up. I did the same to the boy I had tackled. Obviously, Harry somehow knew the boy, Liam. I looked at the other boy skeptically.
"And you are?" I asked.
"I should be asking you that, missy. I'm Zayn." Harry was still in shock, but once he broke out of it, he seemed so happy.
"Liam, Zayn! I've missed you so much!" He started to tear up. I didn't realize the notorious Harry was capable of such emotion. "What happened?" He sounded heartbroken.
"Maybe we should all have a seat, and get you guys something to eat. You must be starving." Liam suggested. I was starting to like him already. I mean when you have to work so hard, the offer is greatly appreciated.
We settled in a booth. I was next to Harry and we sat across from Zayn.
"Harry, mate. I've missed you."
"You too, Zayn."
"Alright guys. I've got some hot tea and some cheeses and canned stuff to fill you up." Liam said as he set the tray of food on the table. It took almost all of my will power not to scarf down all of the food.
"Thanks." Harry said then nudged me. I gave Liam a respectful nod; I wasn't ready to trust him so easily. I met Harry a mere few hours ago, and Liam and Zayn about 20 minutes ago. Liam squeezed in the booth with Zayn. The light shone through the cracks in the boarded up windows. Each beam of precious light revealed the dust floating through the air. It felt absolutely post-apocalyptic.
"So, um. Sorry for, you know, trying to kill you and stuff," Liam muttered. "It's just that we've had a few attacks here, and a few as in more than one. Zayn and I here, learned to see strangers as a threat. We have to fend for our own, you know?"
"Understandable." I said. Liam's eyes flickered to me almost as if he was surprised I spoke. There was something in his eyes, maybe distrust, but I wasn't too keen on finding out.
"Do you have a place I could relieve myself?" Harry asked.
"Sure. Just head out those doors." Liam pointed. "It's fenced off, but be careful Harry." He nodded and left.
Great.
I was stuck with two strangers. Well, stranger than Harry, that is.
"So I never caught your name," Liam started, Zayn watched.
"I don't think that's...this is a good idea."
"Why?"
"Listen, guys. I'm just with Harry here for the ride. I appreciate you giving up some of your food, but at the end of the day, not any three of you are my friends. I'm just a girl looking for her way to Atlanta."
"What harm is in a name?" Zayn scoffed.
I narrowed my eyes, "A lot. You'll either be torn apart by teeth or bullets." I said hinting at earlier events. Liam blushed slightly. "It isn't the walkers we should be afraid of. The danger, the rage; It'll make you go mad." Liam and Zayn just stared at me before Zayn grunted, which I took as approval.
"Seems like you put a lot of thought into this." Zayn spoke up.
"I've just been through a lot." Zayn nodded.
"Hey guys." Harry made his presence known. "Have a nice chat?" He smiled genuinely.
"Yeah." I replied innocently and half-heartedly, even though I know I left Zayn and Liam some food for thought.
"Good." He smiled again, sliding in the booth next to me. His arm brushed mine, resting it on the table.
"So how do you guys know each other?" I was curious.
