Finally, the three of them had finished cleaning the kitchen. It was obvious there had been an accident, a few dishes now missing and some food having stained the ground. But it was much better now than it was when they first started.
Shadow, Wolf and Little Sister all moved outside, Maimu deciding to take a nap in the girl's room. The girl walked around the field that belonged to the family, exploring what was hidden in the tall grass. She usually found birds or other little creatures scurry away and would either chase them, or convince them to come closer so she could pet them. The two brothers watched her, thinking between the two of them the possibilities of what was to happen.
"You know the army doesn't care about lineage." Shadow said so only Wolf could hear. "There's no way all four of us are going to be in the same place all the time, if ever."
"We'll find a way I'm sure." Wolf replied, "We'll have to leave some things to chance, but I'm sure we'll figure something out."
The girl ran to her brothers, holding something in her hands. They both knelt down to see waht she was holding. Seeing the smile that was on her face, they figured it was something that was supposed to scare or really surprise them somehow.
"What did you find Little Sister?"
She opened her hand to reveal a bird in her hands. The boys blinked, obviously never seeing her catch said bird. The bird sat in her hand like nothing was wrong. The boys looked at their little sister, not knowing what to say or how to react.
"Uh...Little Sister, how did you catch a bird?" Shadow asked slowly.
"I jumped into the air and caught him as he flew by." The girl smiled brightly, feeling very accomplished of herself. "Can I keep him?"
Shadow and Wolf exchanged glances, still amazed that she had caught the brid without hurting it at all. They were even more amazed that she even caught the bird at all. Looking back at their sister, she had her pleading eyes, begging to let her keep the bird.
"But Little Sister, you already have Maimu." Wolf tried to reason. "I don't think he would like it if you had a new pet. It might make him think you have a new favorite and don't care for him anymore."
This was a lie, Maimu could really care less. However, the brothers did care. One pet for her was enough trouble, add another and there were sure to be more days full of messy kitchens or other rooms.
"No!" The girl squealed. "I'll let the birdy go, I don't want Maimu mad at me."
They chuckled a bit at their sisters' reaction and watched as the girl released the bird. She raised her hands out to the sky and the bird flew off. She waved, calling out to the bird as it flew away and into the forest. At that moment, the sister spotted Vreal and Ebon walking out of the forest and towards their house.
She smiled brightly and rushed towards them, calling out, "V-sama! Nii-sama!" Hugging them tightly as they each wrapped an arm around her.
"Hey Little Sister." Vreal smiled softly. "Did you have fun today?"
The girl nodded, "I did, and I caught a bird out of the air!"
Vreal and Ebon had the same reaction Shadow and Wolf both had. They turned to look at each other then back at their sister, not believing it. Looking at the two brothers who had seen the bird, they were just laughing a bit with each other, knowing that they had the same look on their faces just moments ago.
"You caught a bird," Ebon said slowly, still trying to register the fact that she had succeeded in this. "Well, that's certainly something."
Little Sister smiled and nodded to Ebon, then turned to run back to Wolf and Shadow. Shadow picked her up and placed her on his back, a spot she loved, and let her cling to him as he held her steady. The girl looked at her other three brothers from behind as they started to turn towards home.
