"Little Sister, time to wake, the sun has risen. Little Sister."
Her eyes slowly opened to a soft voice of a woman. It had been a while since she had heard one waking her. Her brothers always woke her, and the only woman to be in their house was their mother, but she wasn't around anymore. But to the girl, it sounded like her mother a bit.
"Mama?" She questioned.
A small chuckle was heard and her head was softly petted. "No little one, I am Laerorneth, remember? Your brother brought you to me last night and I am to watch over you until they return for you."
She remembered. Little Sister remembered the events that happened just a few hours ago. The banging on the door, the soldier walking close to her, about to pull her hood off to show her cat ears, her brother taking her into the woods to meet the elf queen. She remembered it all, but she wished she didn't.
"Your brother said something about looking inside your bag when you woke." Laerorneth said softly. "Would you like to open it now?"
Sitting up in the bed, she nodded, still looking down and searching for her jacket. The woman handed the girl her bag, a string threaded through it to close the opening, tied into a light knot. Little Sister untied the knot and opened it, looking inside. Reaching her hand in, she pulled out a little teddy bear. The exact teddy bear she had wanted her brothers to get for her for so long.
"They go it for me..." She said softly, looking at the bear.
Its fur was soft and smooth, a light brown color. Its eyes black beads sewn on along with a triangular nose. A red ribbon was tied around its neck, tied by a bow. It was the exact bear she had wanted for years now. Every time her brothers took her to the village she would always make sure it was still there for her. The one who owned the bear and he would keep it just for her. Her brothers had tried, but they never had the right amount of money to buy it after they had gotten what they needed with trades and such.
"That's a lovely bear," Laerorneth said softly. "Your brothers really want what's best for you."
"I wanna go with them." Little Sister muttered.
Laerorneth brushed the girl's hair. "I know you do dear, I know. I've been away from my family a very long time and I know how much it hurts sometimes. But think of this, your brothers will be back soon. For now, how about you meet three of my friends?"
The girl looked up at the queen and gave a tiny nod. She didn't want to be alone so she thought it would be better if she had someone to talk to. The queen smiled and stood, reaching her hand out for the girl. Little Sister slid out of bed and reached for her hand. Before she took it though, she turned and grabbed her jacket and put it on, pulling the hood over her head.
"You don't need to wear your hood child, this place isn't like the village."
She only shook her head, looking down so the hood hid her eyes. Laerorneth chuckled a bit and led the girl outside.
"These are my three friends."
A girl sat on a tree branch, her black short hair a bit messy, the bangs coming to her shoulders. She had, what seemed like, a beak on her head, but it was obvious it wasn't a real beak, to the little girl's relief. She wore a simple black tank top and black shorts, nothing on her feet. Her skin was pale as she sat, her elbow on her elevated knee. In one of her hands was a staff, black with silver tip on each end. She seemed to be touch, the look she gave saying so, but also a bit kind.
Under the branch was a boy who leaned against the tree and looked straight ahead instead of at the girl and the queen. He had a very harsh look, like he had been through many battles, a scar on his cheek right below his eye. He wore a black cloak that fell around his body, torn at the bottom and hiding most of his figure with only black shoes being seen along the torn ends of pants that seemed to be two layers, one with silver coloring, the other with black. There was also a scarf that wrapped around his neck casually and fell in the back, also the color of silver with torn edges. The outline of the cloak showed his arms were crossed, his muscles probably a good size. His silver colored hair fell as a mess to his shoulders, but looked it was supposed to be that way.
