Naomi's POV
It's Tuesday. I've been released from the hospital a few days ago. Luckly, all my memories are back. I feel like nothing happened.
It's just me, Tyler and some film playing in the background. We are cuddling together under a fluffy blanket. I don't really pay attention to the movie.
I am lost in thought when Tyler starts tickling me.
"No! Please! Stop!" - I squeal loudly. He stops and gives me an opportunity to take a big breath.
"Oh God. Never do it again.""You weren't even watching a film I got." - he says pouting. May I add, he looks adorable.
"I was just thinking about the characters." - I quickly make up a lie.
"The movie ended ten minutes ago. You were staring at the vase the whole time." - he points on a blank screen. I don't say anything. He got me there.
"You are a horrible liar, Naomi."
"Get out." - I reply standing up and start folding the blanket. He doesn't move. I make my way to the kitchen and put the cups in the sink.
''Oh come on. Don't be mad." - he says worried. I still ignore him trying not to laugh.
He hugs me sneaking his arms around my waist. I feel a gentle kiss being placed on my neck.
''I'm sorry." - he whispers pecking my cheek. A smile appears on my face.''I'm not mad. I just need to clean the flat so it would be nice if you leave." - I snickered lightly at his comment about hurting his feelings.
I put my hair in a ponytail and start cleaning.
I am humming along with the beat of a song when a loud banging at the door startles me.
"I'm coming!" - I unlock the door and open them. Tyler pushes past me panting.
"We have to get to the hospital! It's about Ruth. Something happened to her! My friend borrowed my car." - he shouts shaking. I grab my bag and we rush to the parking.
I am curious about Ruth. Who is she? I decide not to talk in case I say something wrong.
When we arrive Tyler gets out and runs towards the entrance. I lock my car and follow him.
"Excuse me." - he tries to get the nurse's attention. His face is red from anger. I jump on a sound of a hand slamming on the desk.
"I'm here for Ruth Hamilton. Where is she?" - he asks the women.
"Third floor. Room 58." - she replies a bit scared. We get into a lift and wait silently. I glance at Tyler. I've never seen him so furious.
After a 'ding' the lift opens. He sprints towards a crying couple.
"What happened?"''Oh honey. She- " - the lady breaks down and tightly squeezes Tyler. I sit a few chairs away looking at them. I don't want to interrupt.
"Ruth Hamilton?" - a doctor comes into the waiting room after few minutes.
"Is she alright? Please, tell me my baby is okay." - the women asks, tears falling down her face.
"She is alright and wants to see you." - with that the three of them disappear in the room. I think that I'll stay a little longer so I get more comfortable and lay my head against the wall.
"Naomi. Wake up." - I see Tyler staring at me.
"You can go home. I will drive with my parents. Thank you so much for the lift.""Are you sure that I can leave? I can stay if you would like me to."
"No, it's okay." - I see the sadness in his eyes so I hug him. He immediately relaxes in my arms. I wipe a tear that was rolling down his cheek.
"Talk to me. It's easier if you let it out." - we sit not breaking the embrance.
"Ruth is my ten years old sister. She got hit by a drunk driver while crossing the road. Everything is okay, it's just... She punched her head pretty hard and they had to check... They shaved her hair to see if she is alright and she is so depressed about it." - he sighs.
"She isn't listening to anyone. I don't know what to do, Naomi."
"Want to meet her?" - he asks quietly."Are you sure?" - I tilt my head to look at him. Tyler responds nodding. He grabs my hand and leads me to the room.
There is a young girl sitting on a hospital bed with her face burried in a white pillow. Tyler tells something to his parents and they slowly leave. "Ruth, princess, you have a guest." - he says softly to the girl.
"I'm not a princess. Princesses are beautiful." - she whispers. The comment makes him sigh.
"Hi. I'm Naomi, your brother's girlfriend." - I sit near her.
"I know. He always talks about you." - blush covers my face.
"Um, yeah, well, I will leave you alone." - he stutters and gets out.
Ruth turns around and looks at me with eyes red from crying.
"You are even more pretty than he says." - I laugh softly at her comment.
"But I am ugly.""You are pretty, Ruth. Why do you think differently?"
"I don't have my hair."
"It doesn't make you ugly. You are truly beautiful. Many girls would want to look like you. I think that you are also a strong young women. I had been in a car accident some time ago and, as far as I remember, I was broken. And look at you. I wish I was that brave." - I tell her honestly.
"You know what? I think I have a great idea. You just need to wait a bit and I'll make you look like a princess.""Really?" - she asks interested.
"Yes. What is your favourite color."
"Pink."
"Spend some time with your family. I'll be back soon." - I smile and leave.
I happily walk to Ruth's room, carrying a large bag with me.
"Don't walk in for a couple of minutes. I think I know how to improve her mood." - I say to Tyler as I open the door.
"Are you ready for a make over?"
"Yes!" - she squeals excited.
I take out a cute pink dress I bought at a nearby shop and help smiling Ruth put it on. I paint her lips with a pink lipgloss. Next, I clasp a necklace around her neck. Guess what's its color. You're right. Pink. And the last detail - a silver tiara.
"You're done, princess." - I take out a small mirror and hand it to her.
"I'm so pretty!" - she shouts watching her apperance. The door open and worried looking family race into the room.
"Mum, look! I'm a princess!"They stand and look at the girl with big grins.
"Can I talk to you outside, honey?" - asks Mrs. Hamilton. As soon as we get out, she hugs me and tells me how happy she is that I made Ruth smile.
"Don't mention it, miss. It's a pleasure to see her smile."
"Oh, you are one of the nicest people I met. I can tell that you are good for Tyler, too. He is more positive. I'm glad you are together." - the last sentence makes me nervous.
Who told her that?
''Uh, I, um- "
"Don't worry honey. We can see how you look at eachother. Maybe you can come for a dinner? Tomorrow at 4 p.m. How does that sound?''
''Sounds perfect. I'm afraid I have to leave. It's getting late.''
''Of course, Naomi. Thank you again. See you.''
''Goodnight.''
