Chapter Fourteen

Four months later

Things been great, dad's been adjusting real well and all. We all been hanging out a lot as a family. Lo's  really happy that we're a family again. I am too.

One night we all were at mom and dad's for a get together. The crew was there and all. We was chilling drinking bar b queing and all having a good ass time.

Queenie was here, she sorta kept to herself she was a bit sad and felt left out. Dad saw her and walked on over to her.

"Hey, bug." He said as he stood in front of her.

"Hey gummy." She said

"What's wrong, this is a cook out ya supposed to be having fun."

"I'm fine, just chilling ya know." She answered, he saw the sadness in her eyes. Also saw her staring at someone. He turned and looked saw me and mom being goofy.
He raised his head as he realized why his little sister is sad. He looked at her.

"I never gotten the chance to fully thank you for being there for her, you done a great job raising her, she loves you more than you know." Dad said.

"Yea, I'ma head on out got some stuff to do." She lie, he saw her eyes getting watery.
Mom looked saw how Queenie was looking she place her hand on my arm I stopped and said "what."
She nod her head and said "your mother needs you." I slant my eyes a bit almost got confused than I gasp a bit turned my head saw ma getting ready to leave.

I jogged on over to her she was finna opened the gate to leave. I stopped her as I grabbed her hand.

"You said you will never leave me."

She drop her head as she sigh deeply, I pulled her to me turning her around I raise her head stared into her eyes. Saw the tears in her eyes.

"You are still and always gonna be my mama, I always love you mami." 
I place a kiss on her lips and forehead than I held her tight in my arms.

"I didn't forget you, mama I can never forget you."

She sniff as she held onto me tight. Than I looked at her, held her hand and walked her back to the party. I looked at Nia who was at the DJ booth I nod my head she smirk and nod back. Had changed the song. It began playing the intro of ma n I song we love to dance to.

I began dancing staring and smiling at her getting her to smile and laugh. She could never keep a straight face with me. We began salsa dancing to our song. Everyone watched and cheered us on. Then we did our finale and strike a pose. Catching our breath smiling and all. I hugged ma as she hugged me. We all continued partying having a good time.

Three hours later
Everyone was leaving, some of us were cleaning up. I grabbed the trash and carried it out to the front. I walked to the curb sat the trash down turned and began walking then I quickly stopped as I felt a presence. Cold air went up my spine making me shake a bit.

I slowly turned around, my eyes widen as I saw Jonathan holding up a gun at me. I held my hands out, breathing a bit heavy as I slowly begin to back away from him and the gun.

"Time to pay up, bitch." He said

*gunshot*
I gasp as my eyes got big and dropped to the ground.

*multiple gunshots*
Everyone had screamed as they got down to the ground wondering where the shots came from.

*tires screeching*

Everyone slowly stood up looking around.

"Where's Koy?" Ma loudly said.

*loud scream*
"Somebody call 911!" A woman yelled.

They rushed out of the backyard.

"Kayla!" Ma yelled as she saw me on the ground of the driveway gasping for air. Saw a pool of blood forming around my upper body.

They rushed to me, dad took his button down shirt off, balled it up and pressed it on my chest applying pressure to slow down the bleeding.

"Hold on baby hold on!" Simone cried.

Grunting as I tried to breath. Than I cough up blood as I tried to speak.

*sirens*
The ems finally arrived they rushed to me carefully got me on the gurney rushed to the er. Mom and them speeding behind them.

*doors slam open*

They rushed me inside the hospital, was trying to keep my eyes opened. Heard them yelling for me.

*fast beeping*

"We're losing her!" A nurse yell

"Fight...you fight Koy, fight don't you dare leave us!" Dad yell as tears came down his face.

They held him back, than mom and them screamed as they saw my eyes rolled back.  The nurses rushed me into surgery. Everything went black from there. Last thing I remember was seeing a bright light.

*loud static*

*Clear!!"
