Chapter 7

I got to school with Stefanie. I was so excited for today. We would all go out for lunch today, including Darren. I got to my math class and sat down. I felt something vibrate in my pocket. At first, I didn’t know what it was, but then I remembered that it was my phone on vibrate.

I pressed the power button and the screen popped up with a text. I saw the name of the person and I could not believe it.

It was a text from Darren.

Him: Hey. Do you think Mrs. Smith will have a spaz attack today?

I turned around to look at Darren and he looked at me. I felt myself blush a little and quickly turned around.

I answered back saying;

Me: hmmm... lemme think. Yeah. I think so. Yesterday she was pretty mad. So she’s probably on her period.

I heard him laugh a little and the type signal was on.

Him: Yeah. What’s wrong with girls and their hormones?

Me: Hey! Don’t judge us girls. You have no idea of what we go through

The conversation was beginning to get very weird.

Him: Ok.. Watever you say...

I wanted to change the topic. This conversation was weird and I just didn’t feel like talking about hormones.

Me: So.. You Planning on going to history class today?

I was so stupid. I don’t even know what came through my brain. I wasn’t supposed to know everything about Darren’s life. So why would I ask that?!

I saw him glance at the text. He looked at it and didn’t respond. Him missing History all the time made him even more mysterious. I knew that Darren was nice and all.. but I didn’t know why he always acted so weird. Something about his personality made me wonder.

I felt so bad for sending that text. I knew he wouldn’t respond. And so, I said something else.

Me: I’m sorry... I shouldn’t have asked.

Him: It’s ok. I don’t mind. Maybe I’ll tell you one day.

Me: Ok

Him: Let’s stop texting. We might get caught. Text you later?

Me: Sure

I was so happy. Darren actually wanted to text me. Was it because he liked me? Or was it because he just wanted a friend?

I really didn’t know.
