Chapter 6

Today was just a normal day, just like any other. But something happened at end of school. I was so happy because of this. But first, I’ll tell you the beginning of my day.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. Today is Monday, and I already miss the weekend. I got up and did my makeup. I put on a casual outfit and ate my breakfast. I went downstairs and waited for Stefanie. While I was waiting, I looked at my texts. I got one text from Stefanie, saying to wait five minutes and that she was almost here. I got a text from Sam saying that whenever I wanted to hook up, to call him. And then he sent another one saying never mind you're too ugly. Ugh. He was such a jerk and a jack ass. How did he even get my number?!

Then, I heard the doorbell ring. I looked out the window and saw Stefanie standing outside. I came out and we walked to the bus stop. I told her about the disgusting text Sam sent me.

“Ew. Who would ever hook up with that jerk?”She said.

“I know. I don’t even know how he got my number.”

“Yeah.. Wait! I think I know. On Friday, he grabbed my phone and he probably got everyone on my contacts and sent them stupid texts.”

I remembered that Stefanie had a locker next to Sam. I felt so bad for her.

We stepped into the bus and got to school. I saw Darren there and he was talking to his girlfriend. Why didn’t Darren just break up with her? The girl was a bitch.

The day went by pretty quickly.

At lunch, I asked Darren to sit with us again. I wanted to have more conversations with him, since we hadn’t really talked since Tuesday, when we were in the principal’s office.

“Darren! Hey it’s Alex!! Sit with us!”I yelled.

He looked up and came towards us.

“Hey! Watsup?”I said.

“Nothing just eating this disgusting food” he mumbled.

“Yeah. I know. Cafeteria food isn’t the best. And today we have soggy pasta” Stefanie said.

Jake joined into the conversation.

“If there’s something that you should know about our school, it’s that Monday’s and Tuesday’s are the worst. Monday they give you pasta, which is always soggy and tastes like plastic. Tuesday’s, they give you beans.”

“Yeah. Hey! I have an idea! Why don’t we all go out on Tuesday like last week? You could come a long if you want Darren.” Stefanie said.

Darren nodded and kept on eating his food. The rest of lunch, we talked about the worst teachers at the school and told Darren everything that he needed to know about our school. We told him about Mrs. Smith, even though he already knew how mean she was.

We told him about the popular kids- A.K.A Sam. There were also other popular people, like a girl name Julie, she was gorgeous and all the guys drooled over her. There was Trevor, Sam’s best friend. There were some others too.

We told him pretty much everything there was to know. He didn’t seem like he was paying much attention, though. He looked distracted.

The bell rang and we all said bye. I headed to language with Jake. Stefanie headed for her other class.  Darren left, I didn’t know what class he was going to.

I sat in language and did the work. A lot, as usual.

Then, I went to my last class which was Science. I had science with Stefanie too.

When the bell rang, I was so happy that I could finally go back home and take a nap. I went to sleep really late on Sunday because of doing my homework. I was a lazy girl, and we had a lot of homework for the weekend. Most of my teachers thought it was only fair, since we had three days for the weekend. I didn’t think this was fair, but I still had to do it because I didn’t want to fail most of my classes.

I walked out of the class and met up with Jake and Sefanie, as usual. We got outside and it was really cold. I spotted Darren at the corner of my eye. I thought I saw him coming closer to me and my friends. But, no. That couldn’t be. Why would Darren walk towards me? What would he say to me?  But then, I realized that he was. He really was walking towards me.

“Hey Alex. So I was wondering if I could have your number. You know for the... um..... history. I have been missing the past few classes and I was wondering if you could give me the questions that we have for homework.” He said.

Darren really was missing classes and it didn’t surprise me that he needed the questions. I mean who else would he ask? He didn’t really know a lot of people at the school.

But, the fact that he asked for my number made me so happy.

“Sure” I said.

I put my name in his contacts list. I put my number and my email.

I was so shocked that he would ask me, but I was just too happy to think straight. The fact that made me so happy was that Darren now had me as one of his contacts.
