One was from Joey Reed and the other was from Jake Reed. I sighed, thinking if I should accept. I moved the mouse over the confirm button, not pressing it. Ugh, what the hell can go wrong, I pressed confirm for both Jake and Joey. I looked over to the time on my laptop, it was 2:30 p.m. Which meant school is over, my brother should be home anytime soon. I closed my laptop screen, I started drinking the milkshake I made earlier. When I was near the end of the milkshake, I heard a car beep, indicating it just had been locked.
My brother barged into the mansion, I was about to say hi, but two unknown figures were following close behind him. I finished off my milkshake, and I turned on the tap. Rinsing the cup and straw, then washing them with soap and rinsing them again. I put them on the side to dry off.
My brother walked into the kitchen with the guys still following him as if they're his body guards. They sat on the stools clearly ignoring my presence. I go to take my laptop, but my brother puts his hand on it, not letting me take it. One of the guard looking guys says, "sit," with a very deep voice. I obey, and sit in the stool beside Sam.
"Did I make my self clear when I told you to stay away from that Jake dude??" Sam said. I turned to him, probably fuming from anger right now. "Why can't I hang out with Jake, huh?! What is your problem?? What did he ever do to you?!" I scowled at him, then say something I didn't think I would say, " Jake is my best friend. I'm not staying away from him. You're not allowed to choose my friends for me." I hopped off the stool grabbing my laptop, stomping up the stairs, leaving a shocked Sam and two surprised "body guards" ( note the sarcasm, Haha).
I sit on the edge of my bed, with my laptop beside me. I cover my face with my hands. Then remember I still didn't answer Jake's message. I grab my phone and unlock it, holy cow. I have 6 new messages. Four were from Jake, and two were from an unknown number.
Jake: hey, are you sure you are alive??
Jake: come on!! You're a part of this generation don't you use your phone 24/7?! Unless... Unless you are...
Jake: unless you are dead!!!
Jake: Rose!!!! Live!!! Live!!! Answer me!!!
I chuckled at his stupidity, and began to type up my reply.
Me: NO!! I'm dead!!! Jake, oh, Jake please save me. Or else?!
I tapped on the unknown number, hoping against all hope it's not from the wicked witch who texted me earlier today. When I saw the message I mentally relaxed as I let out a sigh of relief.
Unknown number: hello, Rose. It's me, Joey Reed, Jake's younger brother. Do you remember me?? I hope you do because we literally met today.
Unknown number: are you okay?? Jake is hyperventilating over here.
Me: yes, yes I'm 105% sure I am fine.
Poor Jake, I left him in a horrible state. I swear this boy is going to be the death of me, oh wait!! I'm already dead!!! Get it, get it. Yeah, okay, you guys don't think it's funny, I'll stop. I saved Joey's number before I forget to. Then the conversation Jake was having on the phone came back to me.
~Flashback~
"What do you mean it is in four hours?! It was supposed to be tomorrow!!" I heard Jake screaming into his phone. "Fine, I'll be there. But the pay better be good, you hear me??"
