I regained consciousness. I blinked a couple times before my eyes adjusted to the light. Joey was sitting beside me. When he noticed I woke up, he kissed my forehead, and then he called someone over. Jake walked towards us, and he looked down at me. I sat up as Jake handed me a cup of water for my dry throat. I drank it, not even hesitating. I gave Jake the cup, but then I felt the side of my head throbbing painfully, I reached up to feel it. It was bandaged. "How long was I out??" I was curious, I mean it felt only like a few hours. "Two days," Joey answered this. I looked at him dumbfounded. "You guys are kidding, right??" I looked between Jake and Joey. They both shook their head.
I got off my bed only to fall back down, but on the floor instead of the comfy bed. Jake helped me get back on the bed, "you can't just get up like that. You haven't been using them for two days." I whimpered. Jake just left without saying anything. Joey showed me ways to stretch out my legs. After a couple of those, I felt like I can walk again. I stood up again with Joey beside me making sure I don't fall. My legs wobbled a bit, but I managed to walk. Joey and I walked around his room for awhile. I didn't fall so we thought I was good to walk again.
I grabbed my phone from the counter, and pressed the power button until the apple logo showed up on the screen. As soon as it turned on, I swiped, and quickly typed in my password. Yeah, I actually put a password. I had ten messages. What the...that's weird. Oh, it's probably my foster parents.
Foster mom (Jessica): how has everything been going in the house darling??
Foster mom (Jessica): are you and Sam having fun??
Foster mom (Jessica): oh no! Has he been causing you any trouble?
I chuckled, she is so worrisome. Well, there goes three from the ten messages. I shook my head to myself. I typed up my reply to my foster mother.
Me: don't worry, everything is fine mum. Just enjoy your trip.
I pulled the notification bar down, and clicked on Sam's number. The text messages between him and I showed up.
Sam: Where the hell are you??
Sam: you better come home soon! If you don't come home before my parents do I'm dead. So you better be here missy.
I rolled my eyes, so selfish. He doesn't even care about me. 'If you don't come home before my parents do I'm dead.' I think I'd be happy if he was dead, that let out a little chuckle from me. I replied:
Me: I'll try to be home soon bro. Don't worry, I'm fine. Nothing happened to me.
I clicked on one of the other notifications, it also went to the messages, but there was only two messages from the person. None from me. I read the name, and it said, 'Mason.' What the hell? Why would he be messaging me. I read the messages.
Mason: Do you miss me princess??
Mason: where are you?? You haven't been on for two days?!
His last message reminded me that my brother said our parents will be back in a week!! Which means they're going to be back soon. Holy cow, I slept for two days. Today is Monday, I just skipped a day of school!! Jake saw my worried look when he came in the room with a tray in his hand. Somehow he knew what I was worried about. He placed the tray on the desk, and sat beside me on the bed. He rubbed my back, and said, "it's ok, don't worry. I got all the stuff you need to catch up." I looked at him, then hugged him as I mumbled, "thanks Joey." He hugged me back as he continued to rub my back. Joey pulled away from the hug first, and said, "eat up, I'll be back. I have to go to the grocery store to buy somethings, stay safe." I nodded in understanding, he kissed my forehead, and then he left. I typed up a reply to Mason before I went to eat.
Me: shhh, I'm busy.
I locked my phone, and put it beside me. I picked up the tray, and placed it on the bed. I sat down in front of it as I criss-crossed my legs. There was a glass of milk, two chocolate-chip cookies, and a tuna subway sandwich. I ate the tuna subway sandwich, and it was delicious. If I had to rate it on a scale of 1-5, I would give it a ten. After I finished the subway sandwich, I dunked one of the chocolate-chip cookies in the milk. Then I munched it down, and did the same with the other one. I drank my milk like the big girl I am.
I got up, and picked up the tray. I walked down the hall to the kitchen. I washed the dishes, and dried them. I searched the kitchen for where the things belong. When I got everything into place, I walked back to Joey's room. When I picked up my phone off of Joey's bed, I had two new messages, not including the ones I didn't check from earlier. The first one was from Sam.
Sam: Get your ass home right now!
Why won't he just leave me alone?? Oh yeah right, to save his own skin. I didn't reply. The next message was from Mason.
Mason: How come I didn't see your pretty face at school today princess??
What?? He literally beat me up the other day, and now he thinks we're all buddies. Ahh hell nah. I don't think so. I ignored him, maybe he'll forget I even exist. There was another three messages from an unknown number.
Unknown number: Hello, I hope you didn't forget me.
Unknown number: oh no, you did forget, didn't you??
Well, am I supposed to know who this is?? I was seriously confused.
Unknown number: I'm Jasmine, your sister, you idiot. My parents disowned you, remember?? They also said if you don't give them the money something very horrifying is going to happen to your friends. You know Jake and Joey. Yeah, those friends.
When I read this message, my blood stopped cold. I dropped my phone, and it fell to the ground just as Joey walked in.
