I lay in my bed with my eyes closed as my alarm goes off. I slowly open my eyes to see my phone vibrating and ringing, I slowly reach for my phone turning my alarm off. I sit up slowly as I tie my layered, dark brown, hair up into a messy bun as my gaze drops to my phone, showing it's only at 20%. I got up off of my bed only to trip over a wire, a wire that I was looking for. Grabbing the wire off of the floor and quickly plugging my phone into the charger, I then went to my closet grabbing a black tee and some black skinny jeans.
Taking a few steps to the washroom locking it behind me, I slowly strip out of my clothing looking at my fourteen year old body. My gaze shifts from the mirror to the shower, turning on the water making sure it is warm.
I undid my bun, and stepped into the shower. Letting the warm water make me feel relaxed as it runs down my back and soaking my hair. Quickly soaping my body. I massage the shampoo in my hair. Then, I stand there for a couple of minutes letting the water rinse the soap and shampoo away.
I take a steady step out of the shower making sure not to slip as I dry myself off. I put on my bra and underwear. Soon after, I start pulling on my shirt as I pull my skinny jeans on, unlocking the door and walking out of the washroom as I hear a soft knock on my door. "Come in." My mother walks into my room, and she says, "Your lunch bag is ready." I nod my head as I begin to comb my hair, watching her leave my room. I took my presto card putting it in my butt pocket as I put on my mismatched socks and puts on a black pair of converse. I was not really looking forward to my first day of high school.
I went downstairs to meet my foster family, and I smiled widely when I saw them. My foster father, John, and my foster mother, Jessica. I quickly scoffed down my breakfast as I saw Sam from the corner of my eye slumping down in the seat beside me.
Sam turns and looks at me. "Rose??" He says. I look at him waiting for him to continue what he was going to say. "I'm going to drive you from school and back from now on," I looked at him confused.
"But I'm okay with taking the bus, Sam," he shakes his head and says, "Those were mom's orders, so if you're ready come on I already ate a bite this morning." I nod, and finish my breakfast placing the bowl in the sink.
I run upstairs to my room, I take my phone out of the charger and put it in my back pocket as I grab my bag. I go downstairs and walk up to my foster parents, giving them both a kiss on the cheek, " bye! Have fun at work!" I said, and they smile softly at me. My mom kissed my forehead and wished me good-luck.
Although they aren't my real parents I love them both so much. They had made me happy. As soon as I went outside and locked the door, I saw Sam leaning against his car clearly frustrated. When he saw me he opened his door and went in slamming it behind him after muttering, "about time," under his breath.
I snickered and slipped into the passenger seat. I look at Sam smiling widely. Sam starts his car engine. He looked over and saw my smile, he chuckled and put his hand over my face turning me around. "What do you want this fine morning??" I chuckle at his vocabulary, and say, " oh, hmm...let me think," I scrunch up my face thinking then my face brightens up.
"I want a...drum roll please," I start tapping my thighs, "an ice cap, please, pretty please!!" He laughs at my idioticness, and drives us to the nearest Tim Hortons after we put on our seat belts. (If you don't know what Tim Hortons is, search it up).
We go through the drive thru, and he orders two medium sized ice caps as I wait patiently. When Sam gives me mine, I quickly take it and put my straw in it drinking. "You're going to get a brain freeze," he says in a sing song voice. Sam gave the guy the cash and said, "keep the change." He drove off taking little sips from his ice cap, whereas I'm on the other side hitting my head repeatedly because of the brain freeze. I hate it when my brother is right.
That's when we drove into the parking lot, my gaze was on the school, my jaw dropped open and to say it was huge was an understatement. This school was fucking GIGANTIC!!! My foster brother parked the car and smirked at my dumb-founded expression. "Get out sweetheart, we haven't got all day here." He says as he got out of the car. I got out as well closing the door. This was my first day at high school.
