Bialya
September 4thThe desert’s night wind blew cold air and Megan de-camouflaged herself and sat up confused and in pain. ‘Where am I? This isn’t Mars. The moon? The sand is different.’ She thought to herself looking around. Then it struck her. “Hello Megan! I’m on Earth.” She said and rose to her feet and began to walk down the slope. ‘But how did I get here? And why am I wearing this costume? And why does my head hurt so much?’ she thought to herself placing her hand on her head. “Is this a dream?” She asked herself. Suddenly something like a comet bashed into the ground before her. She shielded her eyes from the sand flying and then looked at the boy in front of her who seemed infuriated. She looked at his black shirt. It had the red symbol S of superman. “Wait, I have seen that symbol. Are you superman?” She asked him. That seemed to infuriate the boy more and he yelled frustrated and tore off the symbol on his shirt and lurched at a startled Megan. She used her flight and jumped out of the way. He punched a large crater in the place she had stood. He turned to and leapt at her and she jumped into the air and floated just in time as he punched the sand. She looked at him and he bound for her in a single jump trying to attack her. She used her psyche and created a mind barrier between her and him which he tried to break through sending them both flying in opposite directions to the ground. He got to his feet and turned and jumped again. In a single bound he covered almost a hundred feet making a crater wherever he landed next. Megan got up and watched him go. ‘Not a dream…a nightmare.’ She thought to herself softly scared for her life.
The sun shone bright and Robin got to his feet with an aching head. ‘What happened? What is going on?’ He thought to himself as he held the rocky mountain for support. He peeked through the edge and saw dust rising in the horizon and understood vehicles were approaching. He climbed on to the rock and hid himself. He looked down and watched a vehicle filled with military personnel driving away. “Those are Bialyan republican army uniforms.” He said to himself in recognition. He raised his computer to his eye level and typed. “But what are Bialyans doing in…uh…Bialya?” He found where his G.P.S located him at. “Okay, better question…what am I doing in Bialya?” He asked. Then he noticed the date at the edge of the hologram. “In September? What happened to March?” Robin asked confused. “Better radio batman.” He decided but a sudden memory sprang at him. “Maintain radio-silence at all times.” Batman said standing in front of a holographic monitor with the map of Bialya on it. “Or…not.” Robin said. He jumped off the edge and landed like a cat on his feet. He got up and noticed a torn piece of black cloth on the ground. He walked over to it and picked it up. ‘What was going on?’ He thought again.
“Hey beautiful? Wake up.” Artemis heard a voice call. Her eyes opened and she saw a boy standing in front of her in black costume. She tumbled backwards and grabbed her bow before she slammed into the wall. “It’s okay. I won’t hurt you.” The boy said. ‘Who is this guy?’ She thought. “I’m one of the good guys.” He said getting to his feet. “You know? Kid Flash.” He said. “Seen Kid Flash on the news. He doesn’t wear black.” Artemis said. The boy looked down at his clothes. “A little unclear on that myself.” The boy replied confused looking at his clothes. “What about you? A green arrow fixation?” The boy asked. ‘What does he mean by that?’ she thought then following his gaze she looked down at her own clothing. “Who put me in this?” She asked shocked. “Wow. I’m not touching that with a ten foot…” He paused and chucked the thought. “So you know how to use that bow?” He asked pointing at it. “Yeah. My dad taught me.” Then realization struck. “Dad. He must have done this. Another one of his stupid tests.” She said pulling the bow to her eye-level. “What kind of test?” The boy asked. “He probably wants me to kill you.” Artemis shrugged. The boy’s eyes widened. They both heard some noise overhead. The boy grabbed Artemis’ hand and ran through the door and out of the dilapidated house as a missile hit the house and burst into flames and the impact pushing them further away. They turned and saw military tanks and Humvees headed their way. They got to their feet and ran. They heard the soldiers yell in unknown language. Artemis looked through the corner of her eyes. ‘Enough running.’ She decided and rolled over and knelt to the ground with her bow ready and an arrow already nocked. She shot it at the approaching Humvee and it flew in the air before tumbling to the ground. She took cover behind a rock and began to shoot at them. The boy placed his light spectrum goggles on his eyes and ran at her full speed and held her in his arms and began to run backwards away from the fire fight. Missiles landed all around them and he dodged them skilfully. “Sorry! They’ve got bigger arrows.” The boy explained as Artemis turned to look at him. ‘This isn’t usually the kind of guy my dad would send.’ She thought. 'He's cute too.' She thought looking at his features. “Thanks.” She said. “Hey I told you, good guy. Now not to pry but what’s your name oh and…uh, what is this about you killing me?” The boy asked.
