"You're just too grumpy Dumpy," - Kei Valancia
~~~~~~~~~~
It kind of sucks, dying you know. Especially right after I got my sight back. Fate is totally screwing with me but the thing is though, it's sort of peaceful.
Everybody has different versions of the afterlife. Mine isn't what you call really 'scenic' but it was better than the red-hot flames of Hell.
No, instead my surroundings were far more docile than I had imagined. Of course, I don't know what I was expecting since I've never died before but I was expecting something a little more, I don't know, interesting?
I was sitting on a small twin sized bed with a quilt neatly folded over it and matched the light pink walls that reminded me of an aura of a young child, the shade of pink similar to that of their innocence. The plush carpet felt thick under my white flip-flop clad feet and a closed door was to my left. Overall, it was empty and unassuming.
As I glanced down, I noticed that I was wearing a white strapless sundress, the light material making me feel as if I were naked. A rather unnerving feeling but not unpleasant I suppose.
Distinctly, movement in the corner of my eye made me turn to see a dresser with a mirror hanging above it. The figure reflected back stunned the words right out of me. Standing, I waved my hand to make sure it was me.
The woman before me was ethereal, unreal. The glint of her mismatched eyes begged for the spotlight of attention while the long dark lashes were lowered like curtains, teasing you for a look, and I was consumed with the thoughts to obey.
The left iris reminded me of excitement, the electric bright green correlating with the emotion full of eagerness.
The right held the same fierceness of feeling as an itch of familiarity scratched at my skin as I took in the angry red iris, reminding me for a swift moment of Ryker's own quick temper with my own constant petulance.
I took a moment to smirk as the memories of our disputes reached my conscious, our bickering creating my amusement, but I was soon sidetracked as the glint of silver caught my attention once more.
Pure silver, as if it was liquefied and poured upon my head, sat in an elegant up-do with a few strands left down to cradle my face softly like that of a shy lover. However, I pouted slightly to see my skin as ghostly as I remembered.
"Maybe I should go down below, and then maybe I'll get a tan from all the fire." I leaned closer and poked my white-as-tissue skin. "I guess I pass the tissue test," I grumbled, recalling a commercial that I had listened with Ryker. Trying to ignore the blinding white, I managed to take in the rest of my form to see that it was the same slender, slightly athletic frame.
"You're quite the beauty, my dear." A woman's voice jolted me with surprise, making me spin and the dress to swish violently. As I faced the newcomer, I instantly felt myself relax at the sight of her.
A woman stood tall in the doorway, her hazel eyes twinkling and her silver hair pulled back into a high ponytail. Her skin was that of milky white - unblemished and smoother than pearl. She stood just a couple inches taller than me, and she seemed to be more slender, reminding me of a regal queen the way she stood proud with her chin held high.
Even when I was just dressed in a simple white tank top and blue jeans, she still looked ten times better than me. Which left me with only one conclusion who it could be.
"Hello Kei." She took a step towards me, her presence warm and welcoming.
"I'm 98% sure you're my mom, but just for clarification, you're not my doppelgänger or anything, right?" I couldn't help but ask it anyway, even though I was 100% certain that it was.
