"Oh goddess, you're still jealous of that fictional jolly man," - Kei Valancia

"This better be good, Alpha Hale." I shut the door behind me, a man standing with his back to me gazing out the window. Hearing my entrance he turned to face me, the expression on his face grim.
"Oh, it is." His voice was forbidding, holding a promise to tell me something that would test my temper.
"Then I guess I shouldn't waste any more time, then." I strode over to sit behind the large oak desk, the dark wood etched with intricate designs of foreign languages spoken by the supernatural.
Not taking the time to enjoy the artwork, I sat down heavily in the leather chair before motioning Hale to do the same.
Brad Hale heeded my silent command and sat across from me, his light brown hair swept back neatly while his dark green eyes held a certain calm.
"I've captured one of Leon's men," he said coolly. He didn't spare a second for any pleasantries. I showed no signs of a surprise but my eyes narrowed slightly.
"And has he said anything?" I asked in a controlled voice.
He nodded before answering. "He wasn't a high rank from what I gathered, but I managed to get a location to where he could possibly be hiding. However," he paused and leaned forward, his forearms resting on his knees, "my lack of manpower has restricted any course of action on my part. I would just be sending my men to their deaths if I did."
"This is where I pull my own weight I suppose," I tapped my finger thoughtfully. "But there is no doubt that he has already figured this out and will be on the move. Leon Grayson may be psychotic, but he is no idiot." Hale nodded in agreement, pressing his fingertips together with a frown on his face.
"I had sent a few of my men out to take a look, but it seems Leon and his group were already in the process of leaving," he explained, his expression darkening further. "Nearly killed my warriors, and they were forced to retreat before any serious injuries could occur." I clenched my jaw in aggravation, the feeling of failure of being so close to him yet letting him slip through our fingers.
I rubbed my jaw in vexation and weariness, feeling the slight stubble prickle on the sensitive tips of my fingers.
I need to shave, I thought to myself distractedly. Sighing, I let my hand fall back down to the armrest and fixed my gaze on Hale.
"I'll gather a group of my men and we'll both head out to the site the day after tomorrow. You'll lead us to where this place is located and maybe we can find something if Leon hadn't already cleaned that place completely." Hale bowed his head in submission.
"We should probably let him know," I say to Axel. He scoffed and disagreed wholly with the idea.
"Yeah, and let him think he still has a chance to take her away from us," he responded with a scoff.
"For the love of goddess, stop being a jealous pup and act mature for once." He complained under his breath but did not grace me an answer, and so I took this as his reluctant approval.
"Alpha Hale, one more thing before you leave." He nodded for me to continue but I saw the spark of curiosity in his eyes. "I would like you to meet someone."
"Of course, Alpha."
"Kei, I need you." I spoke in her mind, letting my presence be known.
"Don't worry King, I'll be there in a jiffy." I chuckled at her high spirited tone before replying.
"You better be," I growled playfully through the mind link. I heard her sweet laugh before the connection cut.
