"Please, refrain from talking, Ryker Dare. It's annoying me," - Rosalinda Syrus

"So you're the man that has been handpicked by the infamous Moon Goddess?" Her alarming vivid red eyes scanned up and down my form, scrutinizing each little detail. She sat up slowly, keeping her eyes solely on me the whole time. "Not bad at all. Yet, I still find Titus much more enticing," she continued.

I was being ridiculous-standing here and letting her words dig into my skin, going through my chest and stabbing my beaten heart. I knew that this wasn't the real Kei, not the woman whom I promised my own world to. Nevertheless, I couldn't stop the waves of jealousy and possessiveness from filling my veins and taking hold of my limbs.

I clenched my jaw so hard I'm sure I heard the bones groan under the pressure, but I ignored the pain and narrowed my eyes at the woman in the bed. "Tell me who you are." She gave me a dazzling smile and with a swift movement, stood in front of me. She gave me a mocking bow, the silky strands of her hair hiding her face. I could hear the smug smile in her voice as she began to explain herself.

"Pardon my rudeness, King. I am Rosalinda Thorn Syrus, the fae princess, and granddaughter of the current fae king, Sylvan Alan Syrus." She raised her head and grinned wickedly, her lovely face a mask of mockery. "But of course you don't seem at all delighted to see me." She walked closer, her hand raising and cupping my cheek. "It's to be expected that grandfather is looking forward to meeting our lovely Kei. However, he'll be in for a surprise won't he?"

She winked and rose on her tiptoes to give me a quick peck on the lips. My expression was inexpressive as she pulled back and began shuffling around the bedroom while humming a tune I didn't recognize.

"This is just fantastic," Axel grumbled derisively. I had to mumble out my own agreement before diverting my attention back to my ever-changing mate, who was currently flitting around the room like some sort of caged butterfly. She kept trailing her hands over everything, a quiet song sung under her breath. There were a few times I caught the look in her eyes, and with each peek, I was surprised to see the genuine wonder in them. Yet, the glaring blood wine colored eyes dulled my questions to know more about this unexpected visitor.

After a solid minute of me standing there while watching her flit around with activity, I finally took one step and grabbed her wrist when she was rummaging through the dresser drawer. She turned her head with a quirk of her lips, her eyes the color of freshly spilled blood.

"You look so frightening, King. Tell me, what's wrong?" Her silky tone grated on my nerves and I had to bite my tongue to prevent myself from snapping at her.

"It would be much appreciated if I could have Kei back," I say slowly, calmly. But we both knew it was a ruse. She pursed her lips and looked at me as if I was a naïve little child.

"I don't know why you want her now. She knows nothing of me, thanks to that old man." Her tone turned dry, her expression darkening with hidden emotions. "So, having her try to explain my existence right now is just useless." She looked down to pick her nails as if dismissing me. But I was having none of it.

I gripped her shoulders and pulled her to me, chest to chest. I saw her startle at the sudden action but I didn't care. "What the hell do you want?" I snarled, my temper finally fraying. Her eyes hardened and her body tensed under my hands.

"First off, I do not appreciate being manhandled in such a way." She waited for me to release her and everything in me screamed not to, but I grit my teeth and slowly let her go. I watched her as she took a couple steps back, rolling her shoulders while doing so. She raised her chin to meet my hard stare, a smug twinkle in her eyes. "Thank you. Now, if you really want to know what I want, well, it should be obvious."
