I waited in my bed until I heard the familiar click of the light switch in the corridors. I slid out of my bed warily and carefully placed my right foot on the floor. The floorboard creaked loudly as I placed my left foot on the floor and I grimaced. For some reason, when I stood up, I immediately felt a pang of nausea and my vision went blurry. I quickly crept towards my bathroom and splashed my face with water. Chiller woke with a grunt and trudged towards me, watching my every move with ease. As I stole towards the door and put my hand on the handle, Chiller pulled me away. "Stop it, Chiller. I just want to try something out!" Chillers just growled and sat down, with a smug yet innocent look on his face.

When I pushed the handle down and opened the door, I was immediately greeted by a cold blast of air, back and front. I gave Chiller a backwards glance as he looked at me with his puppy-like eyes. I'm not gonna fall for that trick Chiller," I thought. Chiller merely glanced at me once more and went back to his little rug. As I put one foot out the door, a sudden wave of nausea knocked me down. I heard a quick patter of feet as I fell. Expecting to land on the hard wooden floor, instead I landed on a soft, lukewarm, leather skin.

"Good boy." I said soothingly to Chiller. He nuzzled into my shirt as I stroked his luxurious back. Suddenly he grabbed my shirt and dragged me towards my balcony. "What are you doing Chiller?" Then I realized as I was thrown over the balcony. Before I could even touch the dirt ground, I felt the cold spine of Chiller under me. He grunted as he broke my impact. I immediately regretted ignoring Chiller and gazed at him with higher respect. He was even more logical than me! I smacked my forehead as I realized that the hallways must have been hexed to stop pupils like me from sneaking around. Chiller gave a little whine and licked me. I stroked his scales and apologized to him for being such an idiot.

"No time like the present right boy?" I clarified, proceeding to ready my sword. I pointed it towards a tree and announced, " Glacies spiritus elemento?" timidly. A pitiful spark came out of my sword and Chiller merely glanced at me and went back to digging a hole in the ground. Well, I thought, How about the shield? I stabbed the shield into the ground and said "Venit glacies obice?". The ground turned a light shade of blue but disappeared almost immediately. I cursed and tried again.

About 1 hour later, I still couldn't get it to work. I had raged endlessly and even tried persuading my weapons so their spells would work. After the second hour, I felt like giving up but then Chiller rose and gave a low growl as if to say, why do I have to do everything? I turned my head to him and he stared back as if he was calling to me. My vision turned into a light tinge of blue as if I was in some kind of trance. I picked up the sword and took deep breaths. Chiller must be calming be down and giving me confidence. I cleared my mind and announced confidently, "Glacies spiritus elemento!"

A powerful blast of ice knocked me backwards. When I looked up, I had completely demolished the training dummy in front if me. There were fragments of ice around the remaining bits which lay on the ground. Chiller picked up the head which had fell off and crunched it to pieces, before spitting it all out. I walked towards him and scratched him lovingly. "Couldn't have done it without you boy." He gave me an affectionate nuzzle in return. As I scratched him, the stars above us turned blue and shone down brightly for a few seconds. They all shone on me and Chiller as we gazed at it, clearly wonder-struck by its magnificence.

Suddenly, out of the darkness came a soft voice saying, "Good job. At last you've found out the secret to it."
