Flashback...
Piercen is in a hurry this morning. Again. Late for yet another day and his tardiness is not going to improve with the twenty minutes it is going to take to get to where he needs to be.
He should be at the job site already that is set to begin building a new condo complex near the beach in the larger city over. "Damn it!" he mutters to himself as he grips onto the steering wheel. His hands clenching and tightening more and more as if it's the wheels fault and not his own for being late. Or perhaps it's the latter, him believing the tighter he holds onto it the faster he will get to his destination and some of the tension will have gone down.
There is no doubt the stress of the new worker he hired to be in charge of the project and keep the job going on schedule is getting to him. The stupid- no the forty year old imbecile - so called educated foreman - can't even get the order for the right supplies to begin the job. Not only that but he's a full on idiot slacking off on this new job already.
"How can he be so stupid?" he goes on talking to himself in the car.
He continues to stare straight ahead on the road in the front of him on the way to the main road. Traffic is sure to be a bit- it's terrible this early Monday morning.
Another new week, another day in the life of Piercen when nothing is going his way it seems. Usually he's up hours early and not this late in the morning time but last night was a weird night.
He couldn't sleep. Dreams and nightmares plaguing his mind on and on. Her face always haunting him. She never goes away. She never leaves him alone.
Emily.
It is not out of fear or dread for what he did though. No, it is simply the fact that she was not the one for Piercen to fall in love with and stay with forever and always. He thought he loved her deeply but as the months passed he never felt that true love feeling deep in the depth of his soul.
No heart beating fast. No shortness of breath. No butterflies fluttering in his stomach. Nothing. Not even the sex was good enough for him.
He didn't love her the way he thought he did or should. She wasn't the one and now she's gone onto a different place having passed. 'Her body is rotting in the grave I gave her.' he thinks to himself passing the fork in the road and onto the main road as he decides his best bet is sticking to the back roads and not the freeway. He'd like to avoid traffic not go into more.
Driving slowly past the train tracks on the side of the road to his right. The local liquor store, a coffee shop and a few other stores all crammed together. A lot of people can be seen going in and out of the coffee shop named 'Norma Jean's and the bike shop this early. Sounds of cars but no train going by.
The train hardly passes by anymore but once upon a time years ago before even Piercen's time this place used to be thriving. The train would go by and make deliveries and such. It can't go unnoticed that the place used to be a different type of town and where the local stores stand is called the 'train station'.
This place used to be a lot more different back then but now family stores are being teared down. New places are being built and opened but yet the town is a place to pass through with little to do. Unless riding a bike up trails and such is something of interest to draw crowds here.
Piercen himself though doesn't like the unnessary added exercise of riding a bike for fun. He's an average fit person but not one of those stuck up and in shape local fiends out here.
Nope. Hes just a simple normal guy who would love to find love.
Love never finds him sadly before or after pathetic Emily. Instead he is all alone living at home with no one but the cat he was left to take care of.
What a sad, sad lonely life for Piercen. No wonder he's been agitated and ticked off by every little thing to come up.
Emily was two years ago and ever since no one has caught his eye. That and he isn't quite sure of himself if he should attempt to find someone else when killing Emily was never part of his plan or intentions. Right?
'Oh well doesn't matter now. It shouldn't matter when I can't change what's already been done. She's dead. She's gone and she shouldn't be on my mind ever again.'
He comes to a stop at the last light passing the only grocery store in town. His eyes wander off to the left at the gas station right beside and instantly he notices her. Right away his heart picks up, his stress gone at the sight of the girl no more than twenty standing there on the corner of the street holding a backpack on her shoulders and a sign in her hands.
'Anything helps.' the sign reads.
The blaring car honking behind Piercen brings him back to reality of where he is and what he's doing. He decides to change directions turning left instead into the parking lot of where the gas station and grocery store is. Work, including the imbecile working for him, can wait. Everything in life can wait when Piercen is almost positive she's the girl of his dreams and he will do anything to help her and himself.
