"...And here's the crazy bit, they use to drill out teeth."Josiah continues. On our way to the church, Josiah and I caught up on certain things; mostly memories and him trying to cheer me up from earlier on events. But then the topic of braces popped up and he started talking about the medieval times and how they use to treat patients with tooth aches.
A bewildering ray of disgust formed on my face and Josiah probably picked up on it as he said,"Don't worry, when you can handled a maniac like Natasha, a twisted shaped metal shouldn't be frightening."
"Hahahhaha."He had a point."I'm probably thinking of walking home today, wanna join?"He rubbed the back of him neck, nervously.
Actually yeah I wouldn't mind that.I realised I need to become better friends with him.Turns out he's not a bad guy; he's sensible and handles things his way balancing others opinion. That, somehow intrigued me.
"Okay sure."He instantly looked happy from my reaction.
We entered the church building, and were told to get with a partner and sit down for the next activity. If I'm totally honest I felt like I was in nursery not in secondary school.
There were stalls placed in rows right at the middle where the seat are usually placed when people come here to pray. There were beads and little sets of jewellery along with thread and other equipment for the activities placed on the tables where the stalls were.
"Please settle down and be quiet."Miss Hope's voice echoed and made the chittering from people instantly replaced with silence."Okay so today you guys are going to be using the equipment over there to create jewellery.
The beads and other equipment do have prices on them and you'll be calculating the price once the finish product is made.I don't want anyone of you to mess around and disrupt the peaceful environment that's needed for you to concentrate. If I see anyone damaging any property or using the equipment incorrectly, they'll be sent back to school and will receive a 1hr detention afterschool.Any questions?"
Her eyes remounted around the hall for any hands up and received a few."Yes Luke what's your question?"
"What's the point of us doing this boring ass activity and plus why are us guys get to do such a girlish job?"Luke's ranting made everyone chuckle and Frances' whispered a 'shut up' and messed up his hair while Miss Hope face turned into rage.
"Luke there wasn't any need for your interruption and to answer your question, it's for charity. These items you make will be sent to a shop that will earn money from it to be then sent to a charity that will help people in Syria."
I hope it does get sent to the right place, I've heard lots of stories get told about people keeping the money from themselves which makes me puke in disgust of how people can do such thing to other.I guess we live in a age where everything is staged and all we can do is put our blind trust into situations like these.
One of Laura's hand was loosely interwind with Reece's and the other one was right up in the air eager to get her question answered."Miss, how many are we supposed to create each?"
"Five each..."She earned lots of shocked faces from that reply."...you guys have 2hrs , that's enough now let's get started."
I was almost finished with my fifth bracelet when Josiah came over and stood right beside me.I looked over at him and then glanced over at the bracelets that he created.
"You know how to braid?"I asked curiously, amused when he made three of his using different colours of thread braided with few beads near the knot.
He rubs the back of his neck once again nervously."Uh...yeah I kinda do my sister's hair sometime so practice I guess."
I swear down that was the cutest thing I've ever heard a guy do.My heart was overwhelmed by the image created in my head.
