disclaimer;

if there is any similarities to the book or movie, that's probably because that's where I got it from. James Dashner owns everyone except Evelyn, Felix, and a couple others.

I decided I wanted to change to third person POV because I write better. I will go and change the rest later.

Evelyn reached her hand up, wiping away the tears on Gally's face. The whole group stared at her in awe and she couldn't quite comprehend what was so shocking, annoyance coursing through her.

"Look," she snapped, sitting up with the help of Gally. "Evelyn Agnes didn't die. The Dark One, who lived in me, was killed due to the want of her death. I was kept alive because of the want to keep me alive."

"How do you know that?" Felix asked.

"Ava told me once," she whispered. "She said they were throwing an alternate personality into the Scorch Trials. I didn't necessarily know what it meant at the time, but now I do. She explained how one person would take the appearance of an alter ego, the person you're truly not."

"Well, at least your alive, Princess," Minho mumbled, pulling Evelyn up and into his arms.

She squeezed him in response before turning back to the group, my face expressionless. Brenda and Jorge had already moved away from the scene and she couldn't help but roll her eyes at how ridiculous they were. Evelyn took a deep breath before sighing and scowling again, motioning for Gally to give hand her her belongings.

"We should find some coverage, we're exposed out here," Thomas murmured.

Felix sent Evelyn a reassuring smile before she could open her mouth.

"Where are we going exactly? After Aiden-" she swallowed painfully, "-left, we sort of forgot the whole point of escaping."

Minho shared a look with Jorge and Thomas, one that caused Evelyn's insides to churn. They were thinking about him. Her heart clenched so tightly she almost lost her balance. Evelyn had to shake herself slightly, trying to ignore whatever had just happened.

"We think we should go look for the others. Frypan, Aris, Teresa..." Felix trailed.

Brenda scoffed at the mention of Teresa, but no one said anything. Evelyn sighed but didn't have the energy to defend her sister, not that she deservedo her  energy anymore anyway.

Evelyn looked to Minho and nodded, and when she received one in return, the group began its venture back into the city.

After everything that had happened, Evelyn felt thay every shadow was the enemy. She cocked her gun and kept it close to her body, not willing to lose anyone else. Gally and Evelyn exchanged looks before she sighed.

"Nervous?' He questioned quietly and she shook her head.

"Watchful," she murmured, sucking in a breath as Thomas stopped slightly.

She watched as he glanced around, stopping Felix, but shook his head and motioned for them to keep moving. Evelyn felt a hand on her shoulder and  jumped, finger resting on the trigger before snapping over, only to face Minho. He wore a shocked expression. Her heart beat rapidly in her chest as she stared at him, her eyes wild. She lowered her gun.

"I'm sorry," she murmured. "I'm sorry, Minho."

He pulled her into his body. "It's okay, Princess. You need to calm down."

She couldn't help but smile at his nickname.  Evelyn pulled away and continued moving, swallowing the fear in her stomach and replacing it with the anger she felt over Newt. Newt.

How was he? Was he still at the Crank Palace? Did he think about her anymore? Was he still sane? Was he... dead?

She swallowed, pushing that thought away before speeding up when she heard a slight rustle down a connecting street. Evelyn stopped and cocked her gun, raising it before advancing on the sound. She heard Gally groan before he shuffled after her, cocking and raising his gun as well. Evelyn glanced up at him before nodding, slipping ahead of him when massive gunfire began. Gally immediately threw their bodies to the ground, his body covering her's. The gunfire stopped and she stepped up again, anger coursing through her body.

"Evelyn?" Thomas.

"Hermana?"

She turned to find the group when something smashed into her skull. Her body collapsed on the ground, her world spinning before going black.

Evelyn's eyes blinked open slowly, grimacing at the pain in her head. She fully opened her eyes to meet white light. She sat up slowly, noticing two needles puncturing her right arm. She rolled her eyes and glanced around, noticing she was in an all white room. Her blood ran cold. WICKED.

She hastily removed the needles from her arm before sprinting to the large window, gasping as she watched Gally's chest rise and fall in even patterns. Evelyn pounded on the glass, hysteria overtaking her body as her fists pounded on the glass. She screamed incoherent things at him until her voice was hoarse and she was dead tired. She sunk to the ground in defeat, tears leaking from her eyes in pain. Hrr head pounded and she longed to be asleep.

In the silence that followed, she heard a door open nearby and clumsily got to her feet, noticing two men and one woman in white coats entering Gally's chamber. One man filled a syringe with some kind of clear liquid, checking it to make sure he had the right amount. Before she knew what she was doing, she began pounding again, not wanting Gally to fall victim to some test. The three stared at Evelyn, only to turn back. She furrowed my eyebrows in confusion before a click sounded and the door opened to her room, exposing the man Evekyn hated with her entire existence.

"Janson," she growled, fists clenching at her side.

He smiled. "It seems we captured the wrong male with you. We were hoping it would be Thomas, however, Subject A8 will have to suffice."

He was surprisingly calm, which only made her stomach churn more. A sly smile still rested on his lips, eyes glinting with something she couldn't decipher. He moved to the side of the wall, opening what seemed to be a cabinet. Before shr knew what was happening, the door opened and two tall men entered the room.

"Before we begin, Evelyn, we're going to need to get you suited for your tests. Please don't fight, they won't hesitate to knock you out."

They grabbed her arms tightly and dragged her out of the room. They made their way through the long hallways for what seemed like years before they stopped at a door. One of the men slid a key card into the reader and the door slid open. Evelyn sucked in a breath as she saw Gally chained to the far wall.

The guards tossed Evelyn's body to the ground and chained up quickly before the door slid shut, leaving Evelyn and Gally in silence.
