i remember sitting awkwardly across from you in the cafe, refusing to make eye contact.
ah, so this is what time does to people.
you looked pretty uncomfortable as well, silently looking out the window as you sipped on your coffee.
i took this moment to observe your facial features. you'd definitely matured into a grown man, with your sharp jawline and your prominent nose. you actually took time to style your hair now, unlike when we were kids and you just let it do what it wanted to do.
but the one thing that never changed throughout the entire time i've known you is your cute bunny teeth. i restrained a giggle when i saw them as you bit your bottom lip-- another nervous habit of yours.
i turned my attention downwards again, eyeing the table instead of you.
"so," you started. i looked up again with curious eyes. "i see you still like caramel macchiatos." you smiled.
i blushed, amazed that you remembered that minuscule fact after almost six years.
"yeah," i said. "but i don't drink coffee often nowadays."
you nodded, listening to my words.
"how's piano going?" you asked, "i haven't heard you play in forever. i would love to hear it." you smiled.
i laughed awkwardly and bite the inside of my mouth. "i..." i stopped, unsure of how to tell you. "...stopped playing a while ago."
your eyes widened. "but i thought you wanted--"
"i decided to focus on my studies," i interrupted, "i won't make much of a living playing music. i need to live a steady life."
"but you should follow your dreams!" you said. you reached over and held my hand over the table, causing me to quickly withdrawal it back to the safely of my lap. you looked down in sadness and took your hand back, whispering "is this really what you want?"
i nodded, holding back tears. "i should go." i gathered my things and stood up from my seat. "it was nice seeing you, jungkook."
i grabbed my bag and walked away from you.
but i was unconsciously hoping that you would stop me and tell me to stay.
