The smell of the hospital never seems to change. It always seems bland, emotionless.

"You okay?" Kian asks, getting my attention by squeezing my hand, which he was already holding

I'm fantastic. I am having a little baby girl and I'm back together with kian. But as he says those questioning words, I can't help but be reminded of this baby's father.

Jack has been texting me none stop to see how I'm doing. I respond with the occasional 'good' but never anything more.

"Im fine." I smile at kian as we walk into room 319

We are greeted by my usual nurse.

"How are you doing Mrs, Russett?" She asks, while motioning me to step on the scale

"I'm great. From the information I've got from mothers, she's been kicking more than five month old babies should though."

My nurse's eyebrows burrow and she feels my stomach. My baby doesn't make any movements so she takes a step back and analyses my stomach.

"And you're five months along, correct?" She opens up my file

"Yes." I say, my voice kinda unsteady, not understanding what the problem is

"Hold on." My nurse steps out of the room quickly

"What's wrong?" Kian asks, his face almost as confused as mine

"I have no id- ahhh." I take a deep breath as I feel a semi sharp pain in my lower stomach.

"Babe-"

"It's just braxton hicks, kian. I'm fine."

My nurse and a doctor walk into the room.

"Hello Mrs. Russett. I'm Dr. Forney." The man shakes my hand but not taking his eyes off my stomach

"What's going on Dr.?" Kian questions

"We think that you may be farther along than you think." Dr. Forney says looking directly at me

"That's impossible. She was conceived five months ago."

"There were no other dates this baby could have been conceived?"

I look to kian, who has the dumbest smile on his face.
"What?" I ask him, obviously very confused

"The beach."

I cover my mouth in immediate excitement.

"That was seven months ago." I look down to my stomach. "Am I seven months pregnant?"

"It's possible. If that was the only other time you had intercourse, Mrs. Russett."

Kian looks to me as if this is supposed to be the big moment that I admit I had cheated on him. I give him the 'are you kidding me, this is your fūckīng baby' look, if there even is a look for that.

"No, definitely not." I explain

"We won't know for sure until the baby comes out, but from our knowledge, you are farther along than five months." Dr. Forney informs us

Kian and I exchange a few happy glances before being checked out of the hospital.
