SIXTEEN – I prepared for a date

Donatello also attended the party and he completed the four suspects that we have. And the probability that he is Enrique is actually quite high.

Dee is browsing for more pictures when a notification appears. It’s a comment from Enrique. “Hey Sisie, I missed you. Sorry for not communicating for some time, I just want you to miss me too.”

Dee frowned. “Who’s Sisie?”

“Move...” I hurry to the front of the laptop and Dee moves sideways.

“Excited much?” She comments grinning. I feel some love in the air.

By the time my hands reaches the keyboard another notification appears. Another message from him arrives.

“Is that your new endearment?  Ahhhh… how sweat.” Dee giggles and I look at her. “What?”

“Whatever.” I respond by sending that comment.

“I know you like it...” Dee says me. “...the way he teases you,” she finishes her sentence.

“Shut up.” She tickles me and we both lay laughing on the bed.

“Do you think he’s gorgeous?” Dee starts while we both lay on the bed looking at the ceiling. “If he’s one of the four... well anyone of them will do for me. Just choose one and the rest is mine.”

“Eeeeeewwww.” I look at her with disgust and she just chuckles. “Well Carlo is hot, and so is Miko. Lee is also hot but kind of a slutty play boy. And Donatello, no, I can’t even imagine one of us going out with him. We’re best friends, the three of us remember.”

“Well, what if Tello is your guy.”

“It’s probably not him.” I hug grab a pillow and cuddle it. “I wish it’s my Carlo. He’s the best among the three.”

“Not that he’s single.” Diana says in a matter of fact tone.

“He is. Kristin just can’t move on.” I defend him.

“Yeah right. Good luck convincing yourself with that.” Diana goes back to the laptop. “Hey another message.”

“Is it from him?”

“Yes.” Dee confirms. “Let me read it for you.”

“Can we meet? I know you wanted to meet me. So I’ll send a car tomorrow to get you at 8 pm. It’s a dinner date.”

“Oh my god, oh my god.” Dee repeatedly shouts in the middle of giggles. “Cassie, he’s asking you out. You should definitely have a proper beauty rest tonight and a total make over tomorrow.

“I haven’t said yes yet.” I argue. It’s my very first date so I feel so nervous.

“Yeah right.” She blurts. “You don’t refuse such a romantic offer. Uh…. How I wish I am you.”

“Let me have that.” I bump her aside so she moves away from the laptop and I went typing the words. “How sure are you that I would want to date you?”

It does not take another minute for him to reply. “I’m not really sure but hoping…”

“Ah…” Diane shouts again in a high pitch tone.

“Psssssssshhht.” I silence her. “Do you know what time is it?”

“It’s just so…”

“Hey,” will you shut that up. My brother is already loudly knocking at my door. “I’m trying to study.”

“Sorry.” I answer then he went away. I know he isn’t studying, he’s just watching one of those morbid movies again. Yuck!

Diana urges me to go to sleep early. She even slept on my bed which made me very uncomfortable because she moves so much. Now we’re on our way to a salon. She wants me to have a hair treatment, a body scrub and facial. And after that she plan to go shopping for a dress. What the hell is this, my eighteenth birthday?

The lady in the salon made me sit and Dee instructed her. I just sit comfortably and watch myself. Well, I look normal.

“Preparing for a date?” I hear a familiar voice coming from my left side. I turn and saw a face I fear to see. His smile is always scary, boyish but gives me the cold wind.

“Oh, hi Lee, is it?” Dee says greeting him as if they’re close friends. “So we’ve met at Miko’s party.” She gave me a meaningful look. “My friend here is preparing for a date. Are you also preparing for a date?” She give me a look telling me I got this, which terrifies me.

“Diana.” I stop her.

“Sorry,” she look at me and then to Lee. She leans forward to him and whispers something which made the guy laugh.

“So it is supposed to be a secret.” Lee looks at me and then back to Diane. “I’m good at keeping secrets.”

“Oh Louie, I see you are here again for your hair treatment.” A gay guy came from behind the staff area door and goes to Lee. “What is it next time then, who’s the lucky girl?” The guy is now behind Lee and is untying his tied blonde hair.

Lee might have seen the questioning look I gave him so he looks back at me. I feel uncomfortable having an eye to eye contact with him so I turn around. “Lee is just a nick name, my real name is Louie.”

“Ah, is this the lucky girl.” The guy comes behind me and gives me a criticizing look. “Well, she’s not like the other girls you’ve dated so far. She’s far more, down to Earth.”  I do not know if that’s a compliment or an insult. But I reddened. Being mistaken as Lee’s date is embarrassing enough; well a guy like him won’t even turn a glance to a girl like me.

I hear Lee laugh as the guy continues to inspect me. “Come on Mitch, leave the girl alone and tend to my hair. I still have much to do.”

“Fine,” he goes back to Lee and I can now breathe again.

“So tell me about this girl...” The guy Mitch pestered Lee. Well, for me it was pestering.

“It’s the same girl I was talking about,” he says. “But it’s enough about her, tend to my hair already.”

I hear him instruct Mitch about his treatment and I wonder, is he really straight? He knows a lot more than I do in this kind of thing. Maybe this guy is gay. Mitch goes away to get the things he wanted and my hair dresser is still away so we were left both to ourselves.

“Can I ask you a question?” I look at him in the mirror. He is busying himself with some magazine.

“Uhummm,” he answers but he doesn’t look at me. “Go on…”

“This is kinda personal,” I add.

“Okay, so…” he seems not interested.

I really can’t stop myself any longer so the words came out of my mind. “Are you gay?” I see him stop reading and turn to me.

“I mean no offence,” I felt really stupid for asking that question. “But you know so much about things… like hair and hair products…”

He stands up from his chair and I feel nervous. The same feeling as when he ‘harassed’ me in the park when I dropped him the bouquet. Moments later he is in front of me. He’s face are only inches from mine.

“Do you seriously want me to answer that question?” He says as his eyes meets mine and his lip slowly descends near mine. “They say actions speak louder than words, and I do answer question not by words but by actions. So do you really want to know?”

Sweat starts to form on my forehead. He leans closely to me and now I can feel his breathing. I think I have turned red. I can see it in the mirror. I continue to turn redder as he moves closer and closer and… COPYRIGHT 2012-2013 @ Avaritico. All Rights Reserved.
